Where the hell is the National Pokedex?

When I found out there wasn't one I felt so let down. One of the main reasons of playing Pokemon is to fill up your Pokedex and catch them all. You can't even do that in this game... You could with X/Y.

Anybody else have any thoughts?

Given how much the thing strained the 3DS hardware, that might have been a sacrifice to ensure something else stayed, like Cynthia.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Didn't even realize it wasn't there o:

but in my defence, I haven't beaten the game yet nor do I use Pokemon bank

It's all been incorporated into the Bank now, for better or worse. I was a little bummed that there aren't Dex entries in-game now, but I suppose this is a lot more efficient than transferring everything over, since you basically just register your individual accounts to the Bank and instantly update your Dex.

It's odd though...I looked this up last week on a few dedicated Pokemon forums, since I was expecting the in-game Pokedex to be updated...and it seemed like no one was surprised it was done this way. Maybe this was communicated ahead of time? I don't really follow Pokemon news very closely so I'm not sure.

The National Dex is now built into the pokemon bank. and instead of registering each individual pokemon you deposit, it scans save files in order to fill pages. I was skeptical too at first, but it seems like a nice fit. also it turns out i only need about 155 more pokemon to fill my dex, and it should be a lot easier with save data scanning.

the only downside is that you have to pay for pokemon bank, but it only costs $5 a year to use. so even then its not that big a loss. and yes it does feel weird to not have a normal National Dex in game, but you sort of get use to it

If it (National dex) was a trade for Cynthia, it was worth it.

Hopefully Pokemon Stars will feature both.

One of my favorite things to do is slowly fill the pokedex, this virtually has made me not wanna go back to sun. I'm still trying to fill the Dex in platinum, heart gold, white, white 2, Y, and omegaruby. (Though I usually pick one master copy to fill for each series. For example out of versions with a trio, I always pick the 3rd version to fill. And with how they've been doing it since gen 5, I pick one of the two games to totally complete, and use the other one to play through the story again and catch legendaries.

I've also found that all the games post 4th gen and remakes, are lacking a vs seeker/phone to rebattle trainers.

Pokemon Sun/Moon is missing a lot. .

You just need to catch the 300 Pokemon in the Alola Pokedex.
