RE6 was so bad that I didn't bother finishing more than one out of the 5 campaigns.

You're so bad that I didn't bother finishing more than one of your 5 campaigns!

Don't expect RE7 to sell better tha RE5 for exmaple, because the public of survival horror is smaller than the public of a pure corridor shooter.

But the game itself is much better rated by critics and public than that abortion called RE6, it is a fair direction for the series

did you played RE7 ?

There's lots of corridors and lots of shooting.  By the end of the game you even have machine gun with 400+ bullets. lol

Not to mention other awful spinoffs like Operation Raccoon City and Umbrella Chronicles making the brand feel truly (un)dead.

Hey now, Umbrella Chronicles is superb and it's the best love-letter Capcom could have ever made in form of spin-off. You're basically getting RE0,1,2,3 and a brand new campaign with plenty of extras and full replayability. What's not to love?!

I think it was a typo and meant Umbrella Corps, considering that beforehand we were discussing about recent spinoffs. Umbrella Chronicles was fucking awesome

OT: 2.5 million is a farcry from what 6 shipped, but I have a feeling that the legs will be far better for this one. RE6 was available for 20$ in a months time because of the overshipped ammount. It did perform fairly well in the longrun at a budget price.

Oh yeah, in that case he's right.

Plz, enlight me. Cause we're talking about Resident Evil 7 here.

If they titled this game HORROR HOUSE or something like that you wouldn't know any better.  The only connection it has to the series is the name.

I havent played the game yet, and please dont spoil me on this, but I have read on reviews that this links to the past entries in the series, through journal entries and whatnot(the extra collectibles that gives backstory). Not to mention that its a return to roots too, and many reviewers says this feels Re.really Keortan, find another excuse. The new IP one is getting really tiring.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Man did RE6 really hurt the franchise that much?? I mean this has good reviews and we've had good spin offs since RE6 but this is well behind franchise standards.

That's what happens when you change the formula in a previous installment. You alienate people from the next one.

Alianate for a while. If the feedback is good, they will bite later on and the game will have legs. IMO the biggest issue that plagued RE7 is the abysmal quality of 6, Revelations 2(as someone mentioned this was mostly down to bad business decisions), Umbrella Corps, Racoon City and the constant milking of older re-releases that didnt really do anything new for the series. 2.5 million first day shipment is still good. Lets hope for the continued good performance. For me 7 rekindled my love for the series.

This was really a shame because I found Revelations 2 a game with a lot of potential. As someone who waited to buy it when they released the physical version (and of all places, on the 360, which had shit-tier optimization), I truly love everything about it. The oppresive atmosphere, the return of Claire Redfield and Barry Burton (the later whom I've always liked but never had a game of his own except for the Gaiden spin-off), the amount of weapons you can find, the secrets and the alternative timeskip paths you can create as a cause/consequence effect. It wasn't perfect by any means and it had some crazy spikes of difficulty at times (and a huge lack of ammo, seriously, every bullet freaking counts), but I always thought of it as a great entry that found a way to introduce itself (between RE5 and RE6) and also expand upon the series' lore without going crazy with it.

Not to mention it features what's probably the greatest replayability mode ever, Raid Mode (expanded from Revelations 1), which gives you tons of things to do, weapons to customize and skill trees to develop. Then there's the bunch of collectibles and extra content for the story in the form of outfits, special weapons and mode settings, not to mention you could replay the games with two different settings (Speedrun mode-esque and Invisible Enemy mode). As far as content go, Revelations 2 was flawless. As a RE game, it was awesome, and had crammed ton of fanservice in it. Nothing beats Claire making the Jill Sandwich joke, and Barry's daughter sighing in disbelief because she's tired of hearing that from his dad.

It feels absolutely nothing like RE4, RE5 and RE6.

Again if this was named outlast 3 people wouldn't know any different.  New Ip in all but name.  The old days of the original IP are long gone.

Will pick this up soon for VR, but waiting for a price drop cos I know Switch gonna a set me back a few bob soon very soon.......

You must be a troll.  RE4-6 have nothing to do with classic RE.
