Where was it ever claimed that The Last Guardian takes place in or is based on the same universe as SOTC and Ico?

Where does it say its not in the same universe? Friggin about the same Guardians as in SOTC.

Just because Ewok doesn't have Star Wars in its name doesn't mean its not related to Star Wars.

So almost all of Miyazaki's movies take place in the same universe? Because they share a lot of similarities and the same artist's unique design sensibilities?

There is a newspaper talking about the infection from TLOU in Uncharted 3... I guess TLOU really is a sequel to that franchise...

And the official words by Fumito Ueda is that it's up to the players to decide if they're in the same universe or not. The game wasn't created or intended as a sequel.

Theres a difference between mocking and having a laugh. We are not talking about little newspaper articles in TLG.

The issue with this theory is that Sony has so many games that they can do both. I don't have time to make a list, but there's a good chance that Sony has more of these "gameplay focused" games than Microsoft does while also offering cinematic, and artistic games in large quantities.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I actually agree with this. If you look at the biggest titles in each system you can see it. Especially true this gen, I think. I'm sure Sony had plenty of gameplay focused titles, but they don't push them nearly as hard as Nintendo and Microsoft.

The Last Guardian is a sequal...

With what your saying, than Forza Horizon 3 is the same game as Forza Motorsport 6 because Forza is in its name when clearly there not. A name of a game doesn't mean anything

Wait what?

wow........

I am literally speechless.

Unpopular opinion I prefer playing Sony exclusives over MS and Nintendo exclusives. Over time I have begun to appreciate story, characters and atmosphere more. Gameplay is largely the same in games anyway at leaSt intresting stories and atmospheres create something new.

It's so amazing how you can constantly just say false things. Where in The Last Guardian, do you see the word Ico? Or Shadow of the Colossus? Or where do you even see any indication that it's a sequel? Where do you see the same characters or any indication that the games are the same? It's amazing. Xenoblade Chronicles X is not a new franchise, because of Xenoblade Chronicles. LOL it's just amazing how someone actually has to explain that to you.

What exactly does Supermassive Games making Until Dawn or Wild Sheep Studio making Wild etc have to do with anything? The Pokemon games are made by a 3rd party, Super Smash Bros games have been made by Bandai, I can go on and on.

And here's the part where you start to downplay Sony games, how many times has that been now?

It isn't a fucking sequel it isn't even hinted anywhere in the game it's a sequel. It does not even take place in the same universe  (the Forza games kind a do, but every racegame does). There is nothing that indicates that and if you make a positive claim that it does at least back it up. Because as for now you just seem to search a connection where there isn't one. Neither I'd Bloodborne a sequel to Dark Souls if you want that entry.

Halo Wars 2 is a completely different game to Halo 5, clearly same Universe. I wouldn't call Halo Wars a new IP because of its different game design.

I would I call most seperate mario games new IP's why is this franchise any different. Same goes for Forza and Forza Horizon those are completely different games in design and everything else the only thing that connects them is the universe.

Unless it's a visual novel, then I disagree.

I said it was unpopular didn't I. For M3 personally TLOU is by far the best game I ever played and it wasn't because of its gameplay. Sure gameplay was good but not outstanding or new in any way. Same goes for Ratchet and Clank and the Uncharted saga.

Entertaining thread.
