Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Ori Dev- Scorpio is a next gen console

That shit ain't next gen lol, it will be an upgrade from low tier to mid tier at best when it will be released. The whole console is still shittier than a 1070 card and 20xx series cards will be out by then

If DF is anything to go on, then the answer is no. It'll be just a better version of the Pro, but not a full gen ahead of the PS4. Of course, if MS wants to try and market it as their next gen system, they are going to look pretty damn weak when the PS5 launches in a couple years. And that will actually have exclusives. Ones designed to take full advantage of it, not just current gen games with higher res and slightly better graphical features.

"Scorpio isn't just a half-assed upgrade (whcih PS4 Pro kind of is...) but rather a full blown next-gen machine that's just backwards compatible with your current library."

That is what I always thought it would be.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Well if the games are made exclusive for Scorpio then maybe it is. But isn't the games are made based on the old Xbox One ????

Kinda sounds like damage control after DF's latest report.

The concept of generations has pretty much gone out the window by now.

Dunno, Sony and Nintendo are still adhering to it. PS5 will come around 2019 and it'll be a new start with new games only playable on that platform, of course it'll have BC with PS4 games due to the architecture.

I think Scorpio will be a new gen for MS that over time will get its own exclusive games.

The latest official statement is still that there will be no titles on Scorpio that won't be on XBO (excluding VR). So no it's not a new generation.

Even if it was it'd be pretty disappointing, XBO wouldn't even reach 35 million LTD, and the increase in specs just isn't a generational leap.

Well DF is speculating they still use Jaguar CPU, just overclocked. Not much next gen :(

Food for thought:

Scorpio could be considered Xbox's next gen simply by the inclusion of VR and native 4K, whereas XBO/XBO S wont have that capability.

In other words it doesnt have to follow the rules applied to and i relation to Sony, especially in a landscape where Nintendo can release a lower powered product allowed to call it it's next generation product.

Hold on, hold on. That means it's going to have "next-gen" games that won't play on the Xbox One? Interesting.

Otherwise, that's a pretty silly thing to say.

Yep, they'll be right there next to major AAA third party multiplat games for Switch so you don't miss them.

Load of crap, No one is allowed to make Scorpio exclusive games so its not a new generation.
