Depends of what kind of WRPG you're looking for...from top of my head, here are some, mostly older, games:

Party: Planescape: Torment, Fallout 1/2, Baldur's Gate 1/2, Arcanum, Might&Magic VI/VII, Knights of the Old Republic 1/2, Wizardry 8, Neverwinter Nights 2...

Solo: Gothic 1/2, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Morrowind, Risen 1, Arx Fatalis, Fable: Lost Chapters, Witcher 2, Two Worlds 2...

If you're looking for something in particular (i.e. story driven, party turn-based WRPG), please feel free to specify.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Are the party ones MP specific or can I play them alone? Would I have AI controller allies or what?

Story driven is a plus - anything else is just icing on the cake but I love icing on cake so I'll take it :o

You control your party in all those games I've mentioned (in Fallout 1/2 you instruct them how to behave in combat and what distance should they keep).

If you're more of a story guy and want to play party-based game, my suggestion would be Planescape: Torment - this game, more often then not, is considered the best CRPG ever made and is still something that all other WRPGs are compared to when it comes to story driven RPGs. It is D&D game, bit on a heavy side, with a question "What can change the nature of a man?" as its main theme, yet with lot of humor - Chris Avalon's masterpiece.

If you don't feel like delving into that theme, Fallout 1/2 for great hub-based open world, characters and story (FO3/4 have very little to do with FO 1/2), or KOTOR 1/2 are also great choices.

If you'd like to start with solo character game, again story driven, try Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. There are many ways you can play this game, building your character is very, very diverse and way you handle situations will depend heavily on it. Of course, this is you don't mind digging a bit for community patch - while this game is considered masterpiece among C/WRPG fans, it was rushed by publisher, so in its original form it suffers from some nasty bugs.

I would recommend Gothic 1/2 as well, these are still best open-world action-WRPGs, but be aware that for more modern gamers controls might feel quite clunky and there's no handholding of any kind. Also, some patching is needed for widescreen support. Risen 1, from the same developer, is good alternative.

Or if you feel more like trying out TES, I would recommend Morrowind - I don't like TES games much (M&M guy myself, though they are party-based), but Morrowind is quite good and is still considered best TES game there is.

C/W/RPGs are quite diverse genre, so maybe try out few games from each subgenre and see what you prefer the most - CRPGs, in particular Interplay's golden age kind (Black Isle/old Bioware - Planescape, Fallout 1/2, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale) are having sort of a second renaissance (Divinity: Original Sin, Shadowrun Returns, Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny, Numenera is on its way, The Age of Decadence), so there are quite a few games in that subgenre.

Legend of Grimrock 1/2 for that late 80s/early 90s old school dungeon-crawling alike experience.

Oh...and Fable 1. Definitely Fable 1 for some linear, light-hearted fun.

Although it's a terrific game, Dragon dogma is not really a wrpg tho. It doesnt really have the strong narrative and branching story that're supposed to be wrpg identity
