Forums - Movies & TV - Star Wars Episode VIII will be named "The Last Jedi"

ugh at those who complain. Title is fine as was TFA.

I expect this to follow similar elements as AotC/ANH. Training of Rey = Anakin/Luke. Rey will have missteps / not follow directions / go on their own in some fashion / rebel = Anakin/Luke. Kylo will push harder in quest to gain control over Rey = Palpatine/Vader. Conflict will be more victorious towards overall order ending in darker tones = preEmpire/Empire. Oh and most of all... Rey will lose a hand = Anakin/Luke.

I always wanted to see a star wars movie called 'the rise of the jedi' I don't like the 'doom'...theme..

Also keep in mind that the plural of "Jedi" is "Jedi" so the title can refer to more than one. It is similar to The Last Samurai which referred to all the fighters and not Tom Cruise.

I was going to say the same thing. Some people will probably assume this title is aimed at Rey alone and they could be right but as you say it could also mean (and I hope it does) that Luke trains Rey aswell as searching for other strong force users to become Jedi and Im looking at you Maz Kanata (the new Yoda?)

Don't like it.

It also means Luke is going to die, leaving Rey as the last Jedi.

Great spoiler.

Rey isn't a Jedi, and Luke wasn't a Jedi until Episode VI, just like Anakin wasn't until Episode III.

Why would Rey be a Jedi in Episode VIII?

We need a First Order victory in this movie.

Yup, the bad guy always has to win in the second installment of a trilogy!

Though technically didn't they sort of win in the TFA too?

Joker loses in the Dark Knight.

Keep in mind that the word Jedi is plural. I don't think we'll see Luke bite the dust in this one....Actually he might but Force Ghosts for the win. I wonder if Anakin/Vader will make an appearance.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Joker loses in the Dark Knight.

I don't think he lost. He reached his goal- to torture Batman.

His goal was to win Batman over to his side, to embrace his inner freak.

Boring old Bats wouldn't go for the chaos, though.
