Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How are 2 Joycons being $79.99 overpriced when 2 PS Move controllers are $99.99!?

2 wii remotes were basically the same price as that here in Australia. And yeah lol. Not sure why the PSMove is expensive.

Has there been any improvement in the tech inside the ps move controllers?

They released a new model along the release of PSVR. So I think along with the new PS4 camera it's superior to the regular PS move with the PS3. The new move controller is chargeable trough mini usb.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

You are misunderstanding something here.

The PS Move is overpriced. It has very old tech inside of it that is currently inferior to the Wii Motion Plus controller/ The new Wii controllers with Wii Motion Plus built in. I believe those are cheaper as well. It has about 9 hours of battery life.

The Joycons are not. Based on everything presented and seen thus far they are high grade and have a lot of tech in it. I believe 2 cost the same as 2 Wii Motion Plus controllers. Its battery last for 20 hours

HOWEVER, the underlying issue is this:

- The PS Move controller largely optional to buy; I say optional because there are still some games that require its use. if you are buying the console it is not included thus the system overall is cheaper.

- The Joycons are bundled with the system. People are dissatisfied with the overall price of the Switch. Despite being reasonably priced. and instead of merely complaining that the added cost of the Joycons, some will take the extra step to say the Joycons are overpriced, despite it being fairly priced, as a means to cope with their frustration

So far there is only one game in existence that requires the Joycons and that is 1-2-Switch, how does that make them not optional?

You are still misunderstanding though that is entirely my fault;

PS Move controllers are required for certain games. There is a lot of VR that uses it, hence why it is bundled and sometimes needed for games.

The key difference however, it is not automatically bundled with the system. If we look at the Joycons, sure outside of that game it is optional. That is irrelevant however, as you are requied to get the Joycons with system itself. Its not a pick and choose decision.

Me including that line you bolded was simply address some games need it, but ultimately it is inconsequential to the price of purchasing the system itself

Also, they're both overpriced

/thread.

Just because they are included to use the handheld, why does that make them the standard? What person is going to only by the more expensive Joycons as well as the grip over the cheaper conventional controller? Your just trying to make stuff stand out to make something look bad, as if it was the only option and thats the only controller you use. The whole reason the Joycons exist is so they could make the system less expensive and include a controller input for both the handheld and TV in one controller.

Every Switch comes with two Joycons.  Assuming they don't break, 100% of Switch owners will have access to them.  Therefore they are standard.

Because Sony doesn't make Joy-cons.

Yet.

Well the pro controller is also more than people are used to paying for controllers. So either way, it's about what people were expecting and I'm definitely not paying those prices for a controller. Still, the joycons are the standard controller for the Switch because they come with the system. Otherwise the pro controller would be the first 'standard' controller to not come with a console. Would be kind of crazy.

How is an iPhone overpriced when a mansion costs 100 times more?????

How are you still allowed to post here when a cat could provide us with the same, if not higher, quality input?

I'm just here to show people that mindless dribble doesn't always have to be in form of a thread. It can easily be done as a post.

No, a more relating statement would be; "How is an iPhone overpriced when a Potato costs 100 times more???"

A feature that is included on a car by default is called a 'standard' feature. Dictionary.com defines standard as "an object that is regarded as the usual or most common size or form of its kind", the Joycons are included with the system itself and will be far and away the most commonly used controller for the system.

They are the standard controller for the Switch.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I....did NOT know the PS moves were that expensive. Holy Cow. Now, if you ask me, they're both overpriced. :P

The worst offender as far as Switch accessories go is the dock though, that one is a bit mind-boggling.
