in short, its not just about quantity, its about quality.

As someone that is going through the Witcher again since the original vanilla run and as someone who beat FFXV shortly before...I can't agree more. It's one thing to have a SHIT ton of side quests. But what's the point if their all the same thing basically and are of no consequence. The Witcher 3's SideQuests have the potential to be something mundane as Slaying monsters and gathering herbs to overarching plots that actually affect the story and game.

even with the most basic side quests, they at least try put a story/back ground to it. heck, sometimes a side mission just seems pretty small, but you can run into the character later on or know what happened to them. like one of the first side quests in white orchard where you have to give a woman swallow to help her heal. if you go to the nilfgaardian camps in velen, you might run into someone who knows her, and tells you what happened to her after. the whole quest is pretty simple, yet it has its own interesting little hook. it what makes the world feel alive.

 

and of course there are side quests like the bloody baron, helping triss and yen, helping Crach's daughter and son. after finishing my first play through, when ever i looked back at the game  i honestly thought those were part of the main missions.

Honestly. I was just doing random sidequests in order to level up and I somehow stumbled upon Letho and not only was I able to save him but recruit him to Kaer Morhen as well. Where I'm suspecting he'll have a role to play during the end game. But look at that. A sidequest is laying the groundwork for a milestone battle in the game.

its a huge open world, it would be worrying if it didnt have alot of them.

I clocked 105 hours on SS...People underestimate how many side quests that game has...

Anyways, I hope a lot of those 76 side-quests are Majora's Mask-tier of greatness and I'm really excited for the shrines.

900 korok puzzles (whatever those are) is kinda insane tho lol

What I wonder is how many big dungeons will the game have.

Side quests need to be defined before we can decide what a number means. For example, FF4 Advance had 8 side quests added that each expanded the story for the characters. Combined, the FF4 side quests were about 25-30% longer than the main game. Or it can be like Xenoblade where there are hundreds of dirt short quests.

There was a rumor that stated that there were 4 big dungeons, and considering the map we saw that comes on the special edition, shows 4 giant monsters on each corner of the map, i belive 4 is the number.

I believe 4 is not so bad, when you stop to think that there are 120 small dungeons and that majora s mask, my favourite zelda, only has 4 main dungeons too, i am fine with 4.



Playing through TPHD right now and I've kinda noticed so far that there isn't really any side quests.outside the poes and bugs. So hopefully these are proper meaty quests and not fishing for bottles

Yeah... and I wonder what the 120+ Mini Dungeons entail.... I'm actually now thinking I'd like LESS content, or at least more varied, because going through 120 mini dungeons and doing 900 puzzles to 100% the game sounds like it's going to end up being an unenjoyable chore.
