I cannot allow myself to get drawn into this craziness.

So they've broken you down, too. I learned to choose my battles.

Some people don't care about being right or wrong. They just want to win. I've quit debating with those people.

Yeah, it's the 2014-2017 vgchartz, logic discussion is impossible a lot of people witn brain damage or pretending to be braindamage, you are totally rigth  Rol, you too d21lewis.

Now to drop some facts.

-3DS launched in February. A first quarter launch is not unheard of.

-SNES launched with F Zero, Pilot Wings, and Super Mario World on day one.

-N64 launched with Pilot Wings and Mario 64. That's it.

-The worldwide launch of the Vita was in February.

-Vita (beloved on this site) was $300 at launch for the 3G version and ZERO memory.

-The PS4 and Xbox One launched with several features unavailable. I could list them if you want.

The Switch launch doesn't feel like a "soft launch" to me. I've been around long enough to say it just feels like a launch. Period.

So very good launch for N64 with thé most cult 3D game and à good game un exclusivity for thé launch

SNES.. well you Said everything

3DS was weak but I rémind à better launch than that still

You fail to rémind Vita Wifi ( you know thé version post people bought ) was $250

Thé Switch launch does indeed feels like à weak launch in term of exclusive Switch games. Thé only Big game is à game available on an other console.

People and journalists are not joking when they say among thé top 3 worsg launch ever

Then thé futur will tell if the Line Up improves, Mario should help to make this console nécessary but at Christmas.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

I dont think I was ever hyped for any launch lineup tbh, all of them always felt pretty underwhelming.

The only Launch Lineup I thought was really good was the Vita....

Uncharted, Wipeout, Modnation Racers and Everybody's Golf. Quickly followed by Gravity Rush a little later.

Gravity Rush is the reason I bought a vita at launch

And in my first reply to you I pointed out that this game is also coming to the Wii U - and that there isn't much else to play for quite some time after the Zelda launch. Zelda DOES count, but it's still a soft launch of the console with few games and missing features. I said that ONE game doesn't make this a great OR a good launch; it IS a soft OR weak launch. Maybe, at best, it's an ok launch, but that might be stretching it.

You really don't get it, huh?

Zelda stands so tall that in the real world people won't even consider which other games and how many the system will launch with. The decision to buy Switch will have already been made before that point. This is what a killer app is.

Read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soft_launch

Switch does not match the definition at all. Switch also does not have a weak launch, because it's getting out of the gates with a killer app that is followed up by a massive multiplayer hit in the following month. It doesn't matter that Zelda is also on the Wii U, because the two versions launch day and date, the Switch version is superior and nobody is going to buy a Wii U at this point. It doesn't matter that Mario Kart 8 was on the Wii U, because the Switch game is a complete package of the biggest Mario Kart game to date and all the sales data we have access to shows that remasters of blockbuster hits are comfortably among the topsellers for a new system. That's two killer apps in the first two months that hit different spots: One is a huge singleplayer game, the other one is a multiplayer champion.

I didn't need to comment in this thread after all. Thanks.

As long as it can play games, that's mostly what I want it for. I assume it has a browser too.

I just want to hold the damn thing in my hands already.

I don't really feel it's rushed, people would complain more if the Switch got released in the Holiday instead. Like a lot of complaints

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

I personally think releasing the Switch now is a great move for the business.

Let's face it the first 4-5 millions new consoles released by any of the big 3 are instantly bought up by the respective company's core fanbase. And nintendo's core fanbase want to play Zelda on their new system. That's enough to completely sell out the first 3 million units even without many other titles immediately available.

If it was released on christmas, all those would be sold regardless to the same fans or scalpers. Regardless of the buzz, there would be none available to buy for anyone else. Families, parents looking to buy it for their kids, etc.

Releasing like this feeds that initial demand, and then by christmas, there will be 4-5 must-own games out for it, Not counting bombshells that they'll announce at E3 (possibly pokemon, probably more) and they're have millions more consoles ready to sell to everyone else who wants one.
