Splatoon 2 as the original splatoon was the freshest new Nintendo ip in years, also cant wait to get my hands on Xenoblade 2 and Super Mario Oddysey. For me the first year looks much better than what wii u, ps4, xboxone had :D Four top quality must own games is quite much for this year, however it hard to believe that Xenoblade 2 would release this year, so probably three games that I definetly must buy.

Yeah I'm expecting XB2 to get a "please understand" delay to 2018. XCX was only released in 2015, and that took them about 5 years to make, I find it hard to believe they'd have a sequel ready in 2.

My theory is they had one group working on closing out X's development while another was making headway on 2's.  Not sure if that will be enough for 2 to hit 2017, but could explain it being at a nice point in development.   It's realy the only game I am worried about missing the year, everything else looks to hit it comfortably I think.

Yeah, word is that Mario Odyssey is already nearly done, and with Splatoon aiming for a midyear release, it seems unlikely either will be pushed back to next year. XB2 on the other hand seems a much more complex game than either, and thus a likely candidate.

After all, this is Nintendo we're talking about, the day they stop delaying key games is the day it snows in hell. XD

Yes, this crossed my mind when I typed that... but do we know if this Fire Emblem game is going to be what we expect and not something radically different. Much like the new features in Fire Emblem: Echoes? I get the feeling that there might be something new and defining for this entry to mark it's return on consoles. Unless they are truly planning to play it safe with this one, which I kind of hold doubts toward.

Even Echoes is still a full blown Fire Emblem, it just includes other interesting features.  I actually would be hyped if the Switch FE takes notes from that.  But it would still have the FE strategic RPG gameplay as its cornerstone.

Of course Echoes is a full blown Fire Emblem, but it's going beyond what is expected of it. It's really new and has some cool concepts. I mean the battles seems smaller to make sense of the exploration in terms of scale, but I do expect some areas with large battles when you approach a military might to be feared or a group of beats. It's kind of an RPG/Strategy hybrid. When you find an enemy the battle system IS the classic Fire Emblem battle grid.

Will the Switch take this further? Experiment with something new? Or be a classic take on Fire Emblem? This series really is one of Nintendo's best now. I wouldn't mind the series going for a T or M rating. Honestly, I feel most of it's audience are an older crowd and the series is so suggestive in ways that most kids wouldn't even have a clue. It's got some morbid shit in terms of context Lmao!

Mario Kart for me.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Voted for Mario but let's check the list again
1) Mario got my vote
2) Xenoblade 2, I would like to see more of this title cos I am afraid they will abandon complete open world set up and gone back again to large open areas
3) Splatoon 2, this will be fun and will sell well also I am interested for sure
4) Fire emblem warriors, I don't like warrior games
5) Fire emblem 2018, I hope it will be like Path of radiance/ Radiant dawn it will become one of my all time favs
6) Others, will they showed couple of games I am either interested in the game itself or either the possibility to play it as hand held, The most anticipated here is Skyrim, couldn't finish it on my PS3 couple of years ago, I didn't buy it for PS4 cos I knew it was coming to switch so it's my first choice here

Mario... no doubt.

"Xenoblade Chronicles 2" and "Fire Emblem Switch" are close seconds. I'm excited to get "Dragon Quest X" and "XI" for Switch as well, and I'll definitely replay "Skyrim" this year (put off getting the remastered PS4 version for portability).

X2 looks like they put the original engine functioning on the Wii U, similar to TWWHD. It is pretty believable to see them releasing in 2017.

Even with engine development taken care of, it would be unusual for a HD open world game to be completed in two years.

Super Mario Odyssey. It promises to be the most open-world Mario title since Sunshine and I love the locales. I'm getting so sick of the New Super Mario Bros. locations (grass, lava, etc.).

Splatoon 2 at the moment, because it's the closest to coming out and we know the most about it. It's exactly what I wanted as a sequel to a game that I put 400+ hours into. Subtle, but definite graphical improvements, new maps, weapons, specials, gear, customization options, and presumably a single-player story mode too, while still keeping everything that was great about the original.

Then Super Mario Odyssey because it's confirmed to be a sandbox Mario again finally, after all these years, and looks great so far. I just want to know more about it. Are we collecting stars in each level? What are those purple triangles? What's the 'health' bar look like...akin to 64/Sunshine, or less segments like Galaxy, or big/small Mario like 2D/3D Land/World? How many sandbox worlds will there be?

And then, the game that will likely end up being my most anticipated game (and possibly even surpassing Zelda, though at the moment I'm not as big of a fan of its 'look' as I am of BotW's PERFECTLY chosen style for Zelda) is Xenoblade Chronicles 2. We just saw very little of it from the teaser trailer. I'm assuming a full trailer will come by E3, and hopefully even gameplay footage from Treehouse. I don't expect it to actually make a 2017 launch though (at least outside of Japan). I wouldn't be surprised if it winds up being a Spring 2018 game in NA and EU. That being said, I do like that it looks more bright and colorful and fantasy-oriented like the original rather than the more realistic, gritty sci-fi stylizing of XCX (I LOVED XCX though). The music team looks good and sounded good in the trailer. The world looks nice, though we need to see more. I need to see the battle system (hoping it continues the great one from XC and XCX), and know a little more about the story. I hope the story and characters are more prominent, epic, and integrated into the exploration and story (like the original, rather than XCX's chapters). So yeah, definitely excited, but just need to know a lot more.

I'm excited for Fire Emblem 2018 as well, as I got into the series with Awakening and then Fates, and hope it continues what was great about those games, but just goes HD and has even higher production values than the already great ones those games had (for 3DS, the character art and anime-style cutscenes and music were all fantastic).

At the moment, and especially after the most recent trailer, it's pretty difficult to think about any game other than Breath of the Wild. Man, I can't wait. 40 days and counting!
