Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why are people suddenly against the 3DS?

With the Fire Emblem direct, we got a total of 4 Fire Emblem games to look forward to, and it seems like people are really upset that Fire Emblem: Echoes will be on the 3DS and Fire Emblem Warriors will be cross-platform. My only question is, why are people upset about this?

First off, you should know that the Switch will have more power than the 3DS. Its more powerful than the Wii U at least and that was ahead of the 3DS. So with Fire Emblem Warriors you should know that the superior experience will be on the Switch. and if thasts not enough for you, look at Hyrule Warriors Legends, it was great on the Wii U and terrible on the 3DS. Now I hear you saying "but now its not exclusive to the Switch so its one less reason to buy one". well this is not a traditional Fire Emblem game so i doubt many people are buying a Switch just for FEW anyways

Next is Fire Emblem Echoes. i dont see what the problem is. the game looks great, and i can say that even though i am not a Fire Emblem fan in the slightest. and from what i can tell Nintendo is pushing Fire Emblem as more of a mobile title, seeing as how Awakening and Fates were both on the 3DS and the Wii U never got a Fire Emblem title. The newest "Fire Emblem for Nintendo Switch" seems like a special occasion type thing. and that WILL make the Switch more noticing if you are a big Fire Emblem fan.

on a final note - some games just feel better with the double-screen layout. When the Wii and DS were Nintendo's main products nobody was complaining about games not being on the Wii. because even though it is portable, the Switch is still a home console at its heart, and they have said that multiple times already. so really, where is all this negative response coming from?

It's not really a great thing long term even if it nets Nintendo short term profit.

The GBA really hurt the DS early on too. Nintendo needs a good start for Switch, a more competetive, relevant 3DS which is much cheaper and has tons more games and all the Nintendo IP doesn't help the Switch, Switch has enough things to worry about between tablets/smart devices and trying to be positoned as a "home console" in a world where PS4/XB1 are in their peak. Having to also sell against the 3DS is another headache that's unneccesary.

I thought it was only a curl thing.

It's not people, it's just curl-6. That's one person.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Because it's sharing the lime light with the Switch. When 3DS was about to launch, we heard nothing about DS games. When DS was about to launch we heard nothing about new GBA games, it's just different this time around. And it's only a sign that handheld tech is slowly catching up with its console counterparts.

Also, 61 million users is a lot to lose so quick. Minds well get what you can out of them with your software right? Reggie and Kimishima said the 3DS would live alongside Switch, how long that continues, only time will tell. I'd imagine after 2017 they'll renege on that statement.

240p in 2017. It needs to die.

Just because I'm not interested in the game, it doesn't mean I'm against the 3DS lol

Sorry to say this, but the 3DS had its time in the mushroomlight. "The 3DS needs to die so the Switch can live."

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

Well there was Pokemon Black and White... and then Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 so its not like the DS era ended quickly as those were 2 games of its biggest franchises. But yes I agree that after 2017 they'll renege on that statement, they just need need the 3DS until the Switch has been out long enough to be profitable.
