Forums - Gaming Discussion - Titanfall 2 Designer: Switch Is So Underpowered Third Party Support Will Be No Different Than Wii U

I'm confused, did this thread come back because the Switch has tons of AAA 3rd party support?

Is it the same as WiiU? There is your answer.

Well he was wrong. While Switch doesn't get every third-party game they are getting more than WiiU got beyond the first month

Legit question, what notable AAA 3rd party games is the Switch getting/got? I remember the Wii U initially did get COD and Creed on it, as well as some others.

I own the Switch but I haven't really played it much since last year and the only games I've played on it so far are Nintendo games, apart from TWEWY Final Remix recently. But even that game was originally a DS exclusive.

He was arguing Switch won't get many technically demanding 3rd party games, like the kind that need to be reworked heavily to function well on Switch. Thus far, that's the truth and will likely continue.

Look at all major titles of 2018, how much of that came to Switch? You're understating how little support it actually gets.

Lastly, Switch has the potential to be well support given the userbase. From that perspective it crushed the Wii U. However, the Wii U benefitted from being able to easily share games with 360 and PS3, which were still supported at the time. However, the Switch still doesn't have a core audience like X1 and PS4. So making the effort to redesign games for Switch isn't necessarily worth the effort.

It's this kind of aggression towards Nintendo that makes these kind of games flop if and when they do come out on Nintendo platforms. I was interested in playing Titanfall 1 and 2 on PC, not anymore.

Depends what we are looking at, its lack of AAA support is the answer.

However, its getting great support from indie studios and family friendly content because it has an audience like Wii U, just bigger.

If you haven't played Titanfall 1 on PC yet, don't bother. Its multiplayer only and has been dead for a long time. You could probably find more people playing on Xbox 360.

Titanfall 2 was a good game, one of the better single player campaigns in recent years. Don't let a single obnoxious developer set the tone for an entire studio and a game probably worked on by hundreds of people.

Yeah, just what I was thinking. Why the necrobump? It is true that switch third party support is very limited.

Limited compared to the PS4 and Xbox One, certainly, but it's still in a much better place when it comes to third-party support than the Wii U, and is arguably even doing better for current-gen titles than the original Wii did, since that console did get plenty of third-party support, but for the most part they were ports of PS2 games rather than PS3/360 games.

Are you sure?

What current gen AAA games are you talking about?

Well.

Obviously it's getting more third party support than the WiiU, so the statement is proven wrong. Second, I think it's getting third party support where it counts. And by that I mean the Fortnites, Minecrafts and Rocket Leagues of the world. Is it all there yet, no, but it's sure as hell a world of difference from the previous iteration.

One very interesting thing about Switch third party support is that it's actually growing while at the same time Wii U didn't get anything besides some indies and Just Dance anymore.
Yes, some games like Dark Souls Remastered or Diablo 3 are old. But they're coming quite some time after Switch released. Doom Eternal got anounced for Switch and will be coming next year. And there is an actual possibility of third party exclusives, as long as Switch keeps on doing well.

If you look at Wii U, after the end of 2013 it just got some franchise-license games like Disneys Planes, LEGO and stuff like that and of course indie games. THough there where even more indie games that got cancelled.

Now with Switch, there are games actually being anounced, ports coming and actually tons of indie games, some of them quite ambitious. Games like Spintires Mudrunner might not be triple A but those games will give Switch a diversity that Wii U never had and though we'll never see something like Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch other games will be released on it, like Doom Eternal.
