Nintendo always stops developing games for their console when they release a new one. This is how hardware generations work.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
Have a WiiU, didn't like much of it, and won't get a Switch. For now. But the two decisions are not related. If Nintendo presented a system that pleased me I would have gotten it regardless of my feeling towards WiiU.
The only thing i'm salty about is that Nintendo doesn't make mature rated content.

Well they havent ever done that, so no need to be salty.

Where would you need mature rated content?

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.
I will wait.
No reasons for the moment to buy a Switch:
- too expansive
- no exclusive games
- paying online means Splatoon is dead
Jesus they supported the damn thing for 4 years, putting out some absolute gems like Xenoblade WWHD and DKTF. It's been 4 years, out with the old and in with the new.

Nintendo abandoned Gamecube just as quickly they abandoned Wii U. I have a Wii U, and if this means Nintendo will be back on track making good games, I say good riddance.
No, the point wasn't graphics didn't matter. Just that the games do. Other than better graphics, having a HDMI output would reduce the lag of your TV, that could be a real game killer. I had my SD widescreen as long as possible because of playing on Wii. |
I don't know if the analogy is truly direct: the GC was the best system (by perfomance), when it launched. The WiiU was far from the best, and Nintendo knew that. If you're checking in underpowered, it is incumbent upon you to ensure that value proposition is otherwise maintained (a la the Wii). Also, the GC debuted in late 2001 and was succeeded by the Wii in late 2006 (5 years). The WiiU debuted in late 2012 and is being succeeded by the Switch in early 2017 (4 years); the Switch ("NX") was announced, however, in early 2015 (2 years).
For the record, Nintendo has always made good games.

But so was Wii U. Wii U's a little underpowered compared to PS4 and X1, but at it's release it was more powerful system.
The games on Wii U haven't really been good.
