I bought my WiiU after my PS4 and before my X1, figuring that the PS4/WiiU combo would cover nearly all my bases. Suffice to say, when Nintendo decided to slowly euthanize the WiiU, I was quite displeased. As an owner of every Nintendo system (fine...not the VirtualBoy), I have no recollection of them ever abandoning a console so abruptly and completely. It was rather diaconcerting to me that the NX was announced so early into the WiiU cycle, and the Switch reveal was like a punch to the mouth.

Nintendo presented...wait for it...the WiiU...with games...awesome. Putting the home- and handheld- console argument aside, it begged the simple question, "Why the hell didn'y you just do this for the WiiU!?" Traditionally, I knew that I would eventually own the latest Nintendo console, but this latest affront has given me pause. Odds are that I will eventually buy a Switch, but is are there any other WiiU owners or observers of this oddity who are likewise concerned?

It's completely understandable. The thing bombed and they moved on, not much else to say. :/

Delicious, delicious games.

Didn't like the Wii, didn't like the WiiU. I would be dumb to buy a switch.

I'm not really salty. Just tired of all the BS.

Im waiting a years time.... see if price's drop, what game support it actually gets ect.

I feel I personally got enough games for the Wii U for it to be worthwhile for me. But I can understand if others fell gipped.

As someone who's played for hours on end with my Wii U, i'm satisfied. I think it's no secret the lack of Wii U titles in it's last year or so is due to them moving over to the Switch, and if they make up for that year with a constant stream of Switch games, i'm fine with it. Regardless, I was happy with the amount of content, though I'm not able to buy that many games

But yeah, you can't expect a company to support something that's sold very poorly and it would've frankly been a waste of time and resources if they still pounded new big titles in 2016. I'd rather they put it in to the Switch, which it seems they have.

The Wii-U was not abandoned abruptly. Total failure was clear from the very beginning and it is a wonder they supported it so long and with so many games where all the 3rd parties did abandon it early because it was impossible to make any money because of the low user base.

If they marketed the exact same system with a Wiimote instead of the Gamepad as Wii HD and included Wii Sports, the success of the Wii could have been easily repeated as there was a huge market for high definition gaming. And it was a bigger mistake to abandon the original Wii so early, a system with 100 Million paying customers, that could have been easily converted to the Wii-HD.

Even nowadays people ask if Zelda Botw is playable on the original Wii because nobody in the casual market knows that the Wii-U exists. And this is Nintendos fault and might be repeated with the Switch.

I didn't buy a Wii U until I was sure I knew what I was getting. I don't like buying systems at launch. Didn't do it for 3DS or Wii U. Likely won't for Switch, although it is a more enticing system to me at launch than the Wii U or 3DS were after a whole year. But I waited longer than a year before buying them.

I don't doubt I'll eventually have a Switch, but Nintendo has some 'splaining to do. I'm not upset about how the Wii U was handled but I am wary of their plans for the Switch.

I thoroughly enjoyed my years with the Wii U. I've got no regrets. I'm an old school SEGA fan, I get that a console can be great even with a short lifespan. I got years of fun out of my Wii U.
