Forums - Gaming Discussion - I finally play Rise of TR

I just lost 30 min of progress due to corrupt save data and I can't be arsed to replay. I hate that there is so much stuff to gather in this game, I know that I don't have to pick everything up if I don't want to but it is irritating me. I liked the first hour of the game when it was survivalist simulator but after that it quickly turned into berry picking sim and a dozen other thing picking. I had much higher expectations of this game than semi open world crap gathering sim. IT IS NOT FUN, I go back to PS2 gaems now

shame about your save file

as for the rest of the game, I really loved it. I can see why some would dislike it, but I enjoyed taking my time going around the environments, collecting shit, hunting shit and doing the optional tombs and areas

might also be the best looking game I've played

I don't recall berry picking.
I do recall preferring the beginning as well though. The game then soon turned into the standard 3rd person cover shooter. You know you be going through some level and reach a wide open area, then your standard kill 20 dudes and move on. Wasn't as fun then. You had some fun optional dungeons you could find at times, but otherwise too much shooting for my likes.

But instead of going back to ps2, you should maybe go back to English class.

I have yet to play it. Im still waiting for a HUGE price drop.

How do you rate it next to the previous TR ?

I played around 2 hours of Rise and I won't be going back to it. It is more of the same as Reboot, but with even more crap per square meter to gather. But for those who don't have even the slightest of OCD and are able to ignore all the crap after each 5 meters maybe they can enjoy this game.

I strongly disagree. ROTR and TR are both excellent games. ROTR is better imho, less streamlined, more focused on exploration.

Both are visually stunning which helps and with a proper display and my rig I got a steady 50ish fps.

The first game was ok. This one was a masterpiece. This was better than any uncharted game except for 4 cause I haven't played it. I was seriously impressed by this game. I just didn't do a lot of picking and hunting.

I thought the first one was great, the second one was probably even better. Preferred it to Uncharted 4 even though that was a great game itself.

If you don't wanna collect the items and do the challenges, it doesn't really make too much difference to the game.

I liked TR a lot. Fell in love when I played it first on a low end laptop, then got it for my rig and was stunned for it. Got 100% of that game. Then finished it again for PS4 (was free for me)
Then I got RotTR for Xbone, and for some reason i didnt find it fun like TR. Finished it just because I bought it at full price. Idk why wasnt the same AWE like it was the first one.
It aint as good as the original, but still a fun game to play.

Good to know, I'll stay away from it for awhile.
