You mean just like how GBA Micro took over Nintendo DS right? Oh wait not that never happened. Switch is the new 3rd pillar. If it sells well 3DS will be dropped liked a bad habit.

A third pillar? The Switch, then the 3DS... What the other one?

The Wii U? If you consider that a pillar, it's no wonder some people think Nintendo will crumble. xD

mobile?

That would make more sense. Although we don't know how much Nintendo will push development for that platform.

The Wii U is certainly not a pillar. Anyone who believes it will still get first party support once the Switch is out are kidding themselves. BOTW is Nintendo's Swan song for it, and from this point on, it will be all Switch.

They should make the next Pokemon Switch exclusive. They would sell less units first, but the investment would pay off in the long run.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

If they're smart, they'll make an exclusive Pokemon game for it. It would make the Switch sell like hot cakes.

So the 3 pillars are Switch, 3DS & Mobile with 3DS likely to be phased out in the next 12-18 months bringing it to a 2 pillar system consisting of Switch & Mobile.

That'll probably be up to Game Freak moreso than Nintendo since they probably were the ones who decided to remain on DS with Black and White instead of 3DS.

Wasn't the game long in development before the 3DS came out?

Switch is getting it's own FE game in 2018 so I don't see a problem.

In japan, maybe.

It will probably never be here before 2019, it's the same as saying Xeno2 come in 2017.

i wouldnt be surprised if the rumored Pokemon Stars pulls a Fire Emblem Warriors and is a cross-platform title.

did they say just Japan in 2018? or is it just an assumption due to usually releasing the following year in the west?
