 During the month of December, $85.8 million was spent on gaming related advertising in the United States.

Xbox spent $31.4 million, or 36.5% of the total amount of money spent, while PlayStation spent just $18.7 million, or 21.8% of December ad dollars. This accounts for less than 60% of what Xbox spent over the same period.

I'd rather have had a game made with all those millions, to be honest.



They gave 30 milion on ads they could have made a game easy with that money.



They could've saved Scalebound, create a new franchise, fund an Indie film and go on a trip to Antarctica and still have money left for a delicious capuccino and a belgian waffle. Thats Microsoft I guess.



That's no surprise given that Xbox focuses much harder on the holidays than any other time of the year.

That's true, but they would have had a much harder time selling Xboxes is they didn't advertise them (same is true for PlayStation).

Not surprised. Microsoft definitely put more effort into the holiday season than Sony (SIEA, specifically).
