I just don't why online is such a big deal. I would rather play it with a friend than some freakshow I don't know online.

Because you can't always get four people together at one time.

And not all people that play online are 'freak shows'.  I don't get that.  Do you not play Brawl online?  I mean, you might get matched up with 'some freak show'.

And online is only one of the major gripes.  The other being DLC, which is a huge part of the game, as the 10 million nor so downloads on a game with >1 million userbase shows.  Also, no world tour mode?  So the whole aspect of making a band, and getting fans, playing at bigger venues is all lost.

It seems to me that lots of people want to downlplay how horrible of a game this port will be, rather than just realize that until Nintendo comes up with a solution for storing DLC, and about their lackluster online service, that game that utilize those things on the PS3 and 360 will be stripped for the Wii.  You should be mad at Nintendo, Harmonix.

no I do not play Brawl online. I play it when friends come over, I play single player a bit, I even play against computer sometimes for a warm up.... I guess I am just so used to playing smash w/ people in the room with me. To me that is most of the fun... beating my FRIENDS into a pulp : ). I would not get that kind of enjoyment playing someone online.

So RockBand is for you then, since you rather play games with people that are in the same room as you, versus playing with people online.

I must say though, that you are in the EXTREME minority of people.

I don't know many people at all that don't play games online.

no, I'm not doing the stealth trolling thing. I have my Wii, and I was really hoping that Rockband for Wii would have all the features. So what am I going to do? Buy the gimpy version?

Let's call a spade a spade. If I'm going to invest like buttloads of money into a game (upwards of 170 dollars), I don't want it to be all gimped.

I think you want a PS3. If you want one and can afford one, buy one. ^_^

I would even be fine if Rockband came cheaper for Wii if it had no online. But if its going to charge the same price but have a gimpy product, that's where I draw the line.

Xbox 360 would probably be cheaper if It was just Rock Band I wanted, but MGS is the deal maker for me (in fact, that's the only PS3 franchise that I'm really into. Nothing else out there interests me, IMO-- not even Blu Ray).

As for the online argument,  i think it is a big deal. I don't like the "well most people don't use online, therefore online isn't a big deal" argument. Nintendo pretty much said that during the GCN era, and I think that was a big mistake. This is the same argument the PS3 people are saying about GTA4.

Having online > not having online.

Having extra DLC > Not having DLC

/argument

Seems fair enough: fewer features = lower price, although this is not always the case for games. It still boils down to licensing fees, which is why the PS2 version was $10 less and the Wii version should be priced the same.

But is $10 worth saying it's okay to be missing DLC and online play? Only if you had no intention of using either in the first place.

As it stands, Amazon has been charging less for the 360 version (currently $148 from the $170 MSRP) and was charging $150 for the PS3 version (back up to standard $170 price currently). The PS2 still lists at $160.

Either way, wait a bit and the PS3 version will go back to $150 on Amazon, tax free, free shipping.

Why would you want Rock Band online anyway? It's a game built for local co-op. Downloads are a rip-off too, $1 - $2 for a song.

Well then it's a good thing they don't force you to play online, and you don't have to buy every single downloadable song, just the ones you want.

And who needs Band World Tour?  LAME.

"Who would want that feature" = the Fox who lost his tail (but if he never had a tail to begin with)

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Simpler solution - don't give your money to EA, they don't deserve it.

Yeah, because buying the non-shitty verstions of Rock Band (360 or PS3) is definitely NOT the solution if one wants to play one of the greatest games of this generation.

I've had RB on 360 for months now and I've only played it online a few times. It was fun but it's a lot more fun playing with people in the same room. That said, being able to download new songs does keep things fresh. Although, if GH3:Wii is capable of online I don't see why it can't be implemented for RB:Wii. Hmmm...

However, if you only have a Wii and don't plan on getting the other consoles I say still buy it. It's awesome. Especially the drums. I don't think boycotting it because it's "gimped" is worth missing out on the fun.

I am not getting this game. This game lack respect for the Wii audience.

I own a Wii and Rock Band intrigues me. So I was hoping that they would eventually port Rock Band over to the Wii and they will be.

But now I'm reading that there will be no online and no downloadable content. WTF?! It's not like Rock Band is the most graphically intense game out there; and the Wii is online capable. SO WHY ARE THEY GIMPING IT?!

I'm seriously considering getting a PS3 now so that I don't get the gimpy version of Rock Band (PS3 MGS4 pack + MGS essential collection + Rock Band + Netflix is enough to get me to jump onto the PS3)

Cheap cash in basically. They do a cheap and nasty port of the game to a platform with the largest userbase while they bend over backwards togive the other systems with a much smaller user base the best experience possable. Which does not make good bussiness sense to me and then they will bitch how only first party games sell on Nintendo systems. Untill 3rd parties give the Wii their best effort games, they can fuck off!

Everybody should buy Ni More Heroes.

No the game took so long to port because they wanted to put in DLC they worked hard on it but it is currently impossible.  If anyone is lazy it's Nintendo.  Do you know how much money is loss without DLC?  Even Nintendo can't put DLC in the're Wii yet.

Don't flame Rock Band.
