What do you mean by this exactly?

We all know nintendo has some the best game developers in the world._._._why isn't that a major selling point and for some reason didn't lift the wii u up?

Wii  U was marketed horribly and had nonexistent third party support. Even the 3ds received more games for it.

It's just a bad console. Even good marketing would have given it modest results.

Because quality is of little help when your marketing is so spectacularly horrible for 70% of your products life that half the potential customers don't know it exists and the majority of the other half feel almlst embarrassed to buy one.  Sony has had some bumps in the road this gen - 2014 wasn't an amazing year as far as their exclusives go - but their marketing was exceptionally well done and proliffic.  Good marketing can sell almost anything, bad marketing can tank almost anything.

And there are numerous other peoblems the Wii U had.

Thinking about getting a wii u. Do you suggest I skip It?

I recommended some games on your thread. If they look interesting, then I definitely will suggest you getting one.

If you don't want most of the games (including your kids), then waiting for the switch would be the smarter choice

If the Switch was BC, I would say for sure yes.

But teh Wii U is a great machine for the fact of its games alone and its amazing BC. THere is no holds bared on its BC. You can pop in any Wii game, and use any wii accessory. So not only all thsoe game listed in your topic, but any and all good wii games are things to look at.

Now the actual gamepad isn't the greatest thing ever. Just get a pro controller. Though it is nice in some games like for map usage or ite ussage, (zelda, AC4, ect)

But I'm sure you could find a cheap one in gamestop soon or on ebay and its worth it imo. Now seeing as MK8 is getting a deluxe, who knows how many deluxes Switch might get. But that could be a while. Buying a Wii U now, kyou can buy the 30+ quality wii/u games instantly and for discounted prices.

Tagging this for a later read. I'm buying both. I (purposely) don't know enough about Horizon aside from the fact that it looks beautiful but this is Zelda we're talking about. For fans, a new Zelda is "call in sick to work" Star Wars level anticipation.

Let the new IP prove itself worthy of challenging one of the most acclaimed franchises EVER.

This.

I already took the day off work I just hope Amazon doesn't screw me and i get my switch and Zelda on release day.  Horizon looks pretty good but as others have pointed out it will be discounted (likely much) more quickly than BotW.  So I'll play BotW and wait for Horizon to get cheap.

Well I think I called it. GG and sony sending out the review copies early was a genius move and now that HZD is a great game and cemented in reviewers minds and soon to be in gamers minds, Zelda and Nintendo have a problem. I can't see BOTW getting anything higher than low 80's.

Tagging for an appropriate response later.

Wii U had too many huge problems that sales could be lift up, it died in its 1st year beacuse of those 1st year and any game didnt save it later. But despite that Wii U had some great games.

I'm playing Horizon right now. About two hours in. I want to know what other people think...

The more I think about the Wii u, the more I wish nintendo went with a classic system. It really feels like a switch that wasn't ready to be released.

In the end, I'm just glad we can move on
