Perhaps not in reviews, but it might sell more than the PS3 version of the Last of Us over time. We must not forget that the installed base of the PS4 is higher this generation. Chances are that it will be Sonys third console to sell over a 100 million, which will give it ample time to sell. Sony exclusives sell over a gradual amount of time as well.

My point is that Horizon will definitely not be popular like Last of Us in any case, we talking about very uniqe game and easily one of best games of last gen, Last Of Us become cult game and must played title, people actually were buying PS3/PS4 just to play that game. Horizon will definitely not have sucha effect.

For now IMO, Horizon will sell around 5m.

I'd love for Horizon to sell that much. It doesnt need to outsell Zelda, but I was just saying that reviewers tend to respond to genres that have more competition more harshly.

Oh god, here we go with the " nintendo has the best games ever " argument. Its sad really. I guess MS and sony have been dominating this gen based off of nothing but luck.

Here we go with the user making sh*t up!

Pocky Lover Boy!

Considering all the media hype over Breath of The Wild, I´d say that the opposite is (a lot ) more likely to happen.

Zelda is a stablished franchise and a cultural icon, with a huge fanbase. Horizon is a new franchise that is, for now, getting praise from critics but we´re still to see how succesfull it can be sales wise. I personally hope that it can get decent sales. I will soon get my copy.

Both games will do great, but if either of them has a chance of being "overshadowed" it is Horizon. The hype for Zelda is much higher than Horizon overall, and Zelda is a legendary franchise to boot.

Horizon is a new IP, and while it looks great, it won't even put a dent in BotW lifetime sales. BotW will sell well out of the gate and have legs. Horizon will sell well out of the gate and HOPEFULLY have legs.

Don't underestimate new Sony ips. Look how much the last of us sold.

I don't underestimate Sony IPs.  I bought TLoU twice, bith releases.  I will be passing on TLoU2 and Horizon though.  Not to say they won't both be great games, they just share one aspect that causes me to lose interest very quickly.

Also just because it is a new Sony IP does not mean it will sell in droves.  Look at Bloodborne, one of the best games this gen so far, also a new Sony IP.  It sold great, but certainly did not break records nor did it come close to what a Zelda game with this much hype behind it will.  And that game did not even have any real competition in its launch window.

Like I said, both will do great.  I feel Zelda will take both meta and sales hands down however.

Understandable. I never emplied that Sony exclusives will sell amazingly well, but the games Sony puts the most media muscle behind tend to sell very well. The games they deemed worthy and the reviews seem to have left them vindicated. Zelda might not be Nintendo's heaviest hitter, but Sony's best titles are within that wheelhouse of sales. I agree that both with do great.

Well I think I called it. GG and sony sending out the review copies early was a genius move and now that HZD is a great game and cemented in reviewers minds and soon to be in gamers minds, Zelda and Nintendo have a problem. I can't see BOTW getting anything higher than low 80's.

You do realise that 3D Zelda is always one if biggest thing for gaming industry, and that Zelda franchise is for 30 years known for consistently high quality of games, and that actualy Zelda BotW looks like it will be one best 3D Zelda games!?

Yeah, no.  Skyrim, a far more acclaimed and impactful game, releasing one week before Skyward Sword didn't tank its score potential (despite the fact it was sub-hd, no voice acting, and mandatory motion controls).  Your logic is profoundly unfounded for that side of things.

Could you imagine if nintendo put all these amazing games on a console. It would destroy the competition. Oh wait

Dude, you are talking to your dang self.

This isn't a thread full of NINTENDO IZ TEH BEST THING EVARRRRR!

It's mostly full of the very rational argument that a new IP by Geurilla Games has little chance of overshadowing a new mainline Zelda from Nintendo EAD.

Why?  Well let's look at each studio's relevant franchises.

New mainline entries in Killzone - GG's most iconic franchise - have an average metacritic rating of 79.5.

New mainline entries in the Legend of Zelda have an average metacritic rating of 95.5.

The math leans heavily in Nintendo's favor.  People giving them the advantage in this is not unwarranted, they earned that with years of consistency.

And for bonus points, the highest selling Killzone has sold fewer copies than the lowest selling mainline Zelda entry.  Zelda averages much higher sales than the highest selling game GG has ever produced.

What do you mean by this exactly?

We all know nintendo has some the best game developers in the world._._._why isn't that a major selling point and for some reason didn't lift the wii u up?
