Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Prediction: ARMS (Nintendo New IP) Will be the Next Big Thing in Competitive Play!

I know its early to call it but im just going with my gut on this seeing the game from different people.

But to this prediction i think 3 things need to happen...

1) More Unique Characters (Yes so at least another 4-5 imo)

2) A little deeper than we know into the mechanics and just more about the gameplay in general (like customization on gloves/etc)

3) Game got to sell at least 1mil WW (more than 600k-700k in US especially)

Bonus...

4) Each Character should have his/her/its backstory similat to Overwatch characters

This game wont be as big as splatoon saleswise but im predicting this will be the only competitive motion controls game with it being amoungst top 7 in the genre (competing agaisnt the big leagues)

It's certainly possible.

I'm not ruling it out. Nintendo has been on a roll lately with reinventing entire genres. Splatoon, I mean, who would have thought that game would be such a great competitive shooter!? Arms seems to go completely south of traditional fighting games much like splatoon went south of games like Call of Duty. As a gamer that craves new content, I really appreciate this.

The idea of changing arms on each...arm...is kinda cool. I just hope there's more weapons to get, more characters and stages. And maybe an Arcade mode or something. Online should be fun as well.

Sales wise FM i can see
350k US
200K JP
110K EU and World
LT
900K US
350K JP
400K EU and ROTW...
So 1.65m LT

If its bundled then 2ml.

Nintendo succeeded on fulfilling my wish on a new Punchout or fighting game. ARMS really has potential like you said.

I think a christmas bundle of ARMS and good advertising on social media and streaming services will help it get a boost.

maybe nintendo will revolutionize the fighting genre, since every single person who buys a switch will have those joycons so they can fight with the motion controls the community for this game should be big. probably gonna sell a lot honestly

De-ja-vu didn't you do this thread.. yesterday?

At least wait for the game to release..

Yeah i know, thats why i initially didnt want to but i did so i can have bragging rights for calling it from the very start.

Of course this can backfire lmao

I don't think 1 million sales (assuming you mean lifetime) equals next big thing, but I do think it can hit 1 million. Also, if it does become competitive, most people aren't gonna use motion controls. Buttons and sticks are simply faster, more responsive, and takes less effort, and competitive players generally use the best tools available.

Like I said before it has potential, but I don't see this becoming the next Splatoon

Would like to be wrong though
