But wasn't your point about playing virtual console games?  Or would they just register as face buttons instead?

I don't know, you'll probably have to use the analog stick in lieu of the d-pad for VC stuff, which is not gonna work for me or a lot of others. Plus Street Fighter which I plan on getting, so yeah, Pro Controller is not an extra for me, it's a "have to" buy. I might actually have to buy two because I like to play 2-player VC at home too, lol, so I'm looking at $140 on 2 Pro Controllers.

Why wouldn't you be able to use the 4 directional buttons on the left joy-con though?  I mean, it's likely much harder for fighting games but I don't see why it wouldn't register at all.

Wouldn't that make it so that the PSP doesn't have a d-pad either?

The PSP used the same D-Pad as all PlayStation hardware. A "separated" cross.

How's that different from what's on the Switch, functionally speaking?

The Playstation D-pad is connected underneath. Just press one of the buttons and you can see the three other ones move.

That`s merely a reason for the price. Doesn`t mean that people have to like or even agree with it and they`ve still got every right to complain about it.

but how are the complaints logical? this is exactly what I'm saying, it's not what you want but that doesn't mean that it should cost less. If they don't like the system and they have an opinion about the system and how the money should have been invested by nintendo to make the system, then I can respect that.

Because worth is not measured by cost. The $299 price may very well be justified by the cost of manufacturing and engineering the product, but if its features do not appeal to the audience- hence hold no value to them- then its not worth it. Again, a matter of opinions.

no, because I'm debating, I'm not saying you should stop posting, see the difference?

That's not what you said to him. But whatever. I wrote that more to poke fun than anything.

On topic: I'm fine with the console's price point. It's the accessories that I think are way too expensive. It's still a day one purchase for me... If I can get my hands on one whenever they allocate more units.

oh ok well sorry but sometimes I have to activate the rude mode cause this is the internet.

and yeah I think the same, the accessories are expensive in a bad way.

I don't see the price as a problem, in and of itself. But, that price is going to move a lot fewer units than $199 or $249. Fewer systems sold means fewer games made, and smaller budgets for them. And, considering the poor library for Wii U, I think concern of this sort is perfectly reasonable.

Given all of this, I think $299 is too high. Nintendo hasn't earned my trust like MS and Sony have, and that price tag doesn't help.

I've never owned a PSP so I don't know how that would feel.  I can kind of see how that makes a difference, but really only in certain games and mostly from an ease-of-use standpoint.

it's what I'm saying, the price of the system is not too expensive, if is not valuable for some people then that's fine but those people can't be so entitled to think that a device should cost less money because is not what they want or what they value. The whole thread saying the same.

the accessories are all way overpriced. i cant play local co-op when i cant afford another controller

Yeah, its pretty good. I do prefer the NES style D-pad though.
