I think it is a great price for being that powerful of a handheld that can also seemlessly connect to the tv.

If the 3DS had a HDMI out. It be seamless too.

Except the 3ds, even the N3ds, is a complete joke in power to this. In fact, I'd imagine the Switch has a lot more bang per buck than the N3ds XL.

BTW, my opinion is based on the $299 price tag, not about other regions cause I don't know how money and taxes work in some places. And yes, I think the accessories are a bit expensive.

say what you need to say!

That's exactly why I believe the Switch is expensive. In my region it is going to cost me a lot.

I always thought prices are adjusted to hit a limit.

I feel bad for people living in places like Brazil. I recall when the PS4 was like $1,500 during the release. Absolutely crazy. No wonder why most people in certain countries game on 7th gen consoles instead.

It's too expensive for what it's offering......
- looking like less western 3rd party support than the Wii U...so it's a Nintendo Niche machine, wing have big library
- "lack of hard drive space compared to other consoles
- seemingly much less powerful (can buy a console for 400 that is nearly 6x as powerful based on leaked specs, with 1 tb, with huge 3rd party support all alround)
- lack of multimedia features, can't play any type of movie....no multimedia support
- in order to have a normal controller need another 70 dollars
- no bundled game

I'm late to the conversation but I made another thread. Looking up certain info in that thread, I realized that I forgot that I paid $300 for a Vita at launch. Obviously, the Vita wasn't a sales success but people seemed okay with that price back then. If the Switch is offering more than that console at the same price, why is it too high now?

I would like to know too. I bought a vita for the same price and everyone was hyped because "omg the games look awesome for a portable" I was happy with my ninja gaiden machine.

Idk but I think that Vita's failure should be a clear indicator that MOST people were not actually okay with the price (a.k.a. most people didnt see value in it).  And sure, Vita's price was not the only reason why it failed, but that was where it all started.

I don't think it is TOO expensive, but I think it is a little bit expensive nonetheless. I just think it is a missed oportunity for them.  If they had released it at $250 it would have been a home rum and it would have had the chance to get a Wii-like success.

But if they keep this price for too long, then I think they will be lucky to match the 3DS sales.

Have you looked at vita sales? They might have been "okay" with the price but not "I'm willing to spend $300" on one okay with it. That's the problem.

I see what you're saying.

Release a low cost "Switch TV" with only home console capabilities in 2018 and profit!

It worked for the Playstation Vita! Ohh- wait...

thats quite the oversimplification. For one, Vita was already a niche device, a revision wasnt going to change that.

also take a look at this https://physicalgames.wordpress.com/pstv/ its a list of Vita software not compatible on the Playstation TV. Quite a long list and has some of the bigger Vita titles on there.

So ya if Switch bombs and the TV revision is missing out on the most popular games than yes Switch TV would likely fail.

However if Switch is popular and the revision is compatible with 99% of Switch software than the comparison is invalid.

Yes. Yes I did.

I think one of its biggest problems was that it was a portable console competing with Nintendo. The Switch might not have that problem.

You are right saying the ps4 or xbox one is the same price as the switch isn't a good argument at this point their are significantly cheaper, in europe, around a 100 euro cheaper and include a game.

So yeah, switch is positioning its price like the WIi-U did, and people really bought in to that, and people didnt try to defend that either before and during the launch.

Which ever way you spin it the switch is being sent out to die with its current price point both in hardware its offering and the games its offering at launch.
