Ignore it then. I know people that feel the same as you. Some don't mind it. Some love it. You can disable it on your PSN profile if you want to. Not sure about Xbox tbh. It's addition is only a good thing. Attracting users, fostering online communities. It's not all positive. There will be more Johns in your neighborhood.

That would be a good solution, but the problem that would still exist, is that the games have be to more or less designed around the trophies. Well, everybody is more or less doing it, but I believe in X360 games this was especially flawed, as all the games had to have a trophy system. Just think about the feeling of accomplishment you get for having an achievement for powering on your game.

OR...the trophies are designed around the game? MUCH more plausible. It's actually quite visible. Insofar as it is breathtakingly obvious that games can still be played exactly as they would have been without achievments/trophies, and that said features add naught but an optional set of goals for the player to "achieve" or ...."troph". After that, it's about genetics. Environmental exposure. Tell me. How much did Uncharted 2 suffer as a result of trophies, in the wake of the trophy-less Uncharted? Did MGS4 suddenly get worse after it's trophy patch? I don't even know where to start with this one. It's difficult to get across in an internet post how wrong you are.

So, basically the trophy/achievement system is just based on how much time you're spending with the game, and this is what makes it flawed. I rather spend 30 minutes on a game full of action than 30 hours on a game where nothing really happens. You really can't say that the issue didn't relate to modern game design in general, though.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Time CAN play a role in the trophy/achievment system. Just like it can play a role in a game without them. Collecting all the bleep-bloops for example. Surely you've played a game where you've collected bleep-bloops. Have you ever heard of Donkey Kong 64? There are lots of bleep-bloops in that game. You don't need to get them. You can if you want to though. Time played is just one possible aspect of implementing the achievment/trophy system. It's up to the dev as to how it's implemented. And just like it was in games, waaaay before trophies, it's up to the player how much they want to wring out of a game. But again, and I can't stress this enough, games are not "designed around" achievments/trophies.

Pre-ordered already and mostly paid for just by trading in my Wii U, 5 games and a Pro controller ;o)

I'll get it with Zelda if possible. If not, I'll play Zelda on WiiU and Switch will have to wait until Mario. So, it all depends on whether my local shop can get enough units.

No Metroid, no power, paywall for online, Zelda is on the Wii U, new games don't excite me at all.

My mild curiosity has quickly turned into 'meh'. I'll probably skip consoles completely until the next round (once I sell my PS4).

I'm in the same situation as you. There's no way I'm going to wait for the Switch before playing Breath of the Wild. If I can't get a hold of one in time for its launch, I'm getting the Wii U version of Zelda.

Will double dip whenever I finally manage to get the Switch.

I'm not doing backflips of joy over it, but yeah I want one, then again I buy every Nintendo system. I would buy a Virtual Boy and 64DD if I could get one in good condition for a good price.

There are good things about the system and there are some kinda iffy things about it.

I didn't even think of that. If Zelda is really good, sure why not. It might not be a bad idea to get both version anyway, then we can play together.

To be frank, I don't mind double dipping for Zelda because my son really loves Zelda as well, and both me and his mother have a Wii U. So when I finally get the Switch, I'll give him the Wii U version of the game so he can play at his mom's.
