Yea they always say this with every new console. 
I don't think the 3DS will die immediately, but once this year ends, there will be no more real support for it.

It will... esp if 3ds keep selling well and switch doesn't sell very well...
Now if switch starts selling well, people will forget about 3ds nintendo can claim that they need to put more effort on supporting switch...
Nintendo is a business by the end of the day... they want to earn money, not to baby people...
