Forums - Nintendo Discussion - GameStop Switch pre-order numbers

so 500k pre-orders from Gamestop alone already filled. 250k on waiting list. So most likely that 500k they have will be sold.

I'm guessing the full 2 million that Nintendo has ready for launch will be sold out. If this is a hit, which I don't see likely right away, they better get more shipments ready.

I don't see this system taking off until Holiday. The launch line-up is just too small. But once, Mario Kart, Splatoon 2, Mario, and others release, then it could be a hot holiday item.

Wii U also had a 500,000 waiting list and then when it released it only sold 320,000 the first 2 months. Just saying.

Exactly. I don't believe ANYTHING Gamestop says about pre-orders since.
They just want to hype people into thinking that it's a very desired product.

Well what does Gamestop require for pre-order?

Is tehre a downpayment? A full price payment?

I know my best buy pre-order is showing a $320 charge on my Credit Card. Or last I checked it was in pending status.

Now thats actually better.Again, its not a garantee that the Switch will be a success, but I think its basically a garantee now its going to have a successful launch. And god, gamestop had 1/4 of all Switches? How bloody many did Amazon for example got?

And someone knows how fast Wii U was sold out in the initial pre-orders?

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I'm one of them. Almost regret not ordering one of their bundles.

My God. Has there ever been this many Tegra X1 chips buzzing along simultaneously on earth before? It could open some kind of window to another dimension. A dimension of fun.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

Pent up demand from people wanting something that isn't the Wii U, first 6-8 weeks should be massive. This is why I don't understand those who think it'll sell only a few million for the entire CY. First shipment will disappear right away, the real question is what happens after the dust has settled and slow season sets in, that's the real test.

I think a lot just depends on how Nintendo choose to play their cards this round. If they choose to just leave it to die for several months with no releases like they did with the Wii U, this is going to be a rough time for Nintendo

And this is why I believe it will be cut to $250 by the holidays, possibly with a bundled game because the software wont really pick up until 2018 when more 3rd party devs move over from 3DS.

Wow they have 1.2 million pre-orders already and that's just Gamespot, thats actually a lot

if im reading correctly, the 1.2 million figure is for software while the Gamestop launch shipments for hardware will be 500k and they have accepted a further 250k pre-orders for future shipments.

Correct.

So that means 1.5 mil consoles are at other retailers.

Just liké WiiU, im sûre itll sell well the 2 first months and reach 2M easily ( WiiU had reached 3M before thé Big drop and flop)

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

$50 downpayment for console, $5 for games/accessories

I really think that's why they have a few releases they could probably front load with spread out over the first few months. Seems like they have Mario Kart dropping about the second those initial sales might slow, and they continue in that manner throughout the year.
