Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony's response to the Nintendo switch

Remote play via LTE or 5G connection for iOS and Android devices...... Play your favorite ps4 games on the go through your mobile device.... Accessible to all PlayStation plus subscribers!

Remote play was a highly advertised feature for Sony ahndhelds including the Vita, where you could access your ps4 from anywhere there was a strong wifi connection.... Letting you play games from the system on the go. The only real handicap was the wifi requirement. If Sony push an update to include LTE AND OFFERS REMOTE PLAY VIA ANY DROID OR IDEVICE I could definitely see this as a serious blow to Nintendo's switch console.

You guys think this could happen?

Controlling a PS4 game with my phone? No thanks. Plus the data, yikes.

Its a nice feature for those that would use it, but I doubt very many would.

I am also doubtful that a lot of people would, but they could easily launch a peripheral for type c droids and iOS devices that atractched to resemble a controller...

They could do that instead of launching a new handheld....

It could bring in a lot of buisness for PS plus... And data isn't that big of a deal with T mobile ppl, plus you could always connect to wifi....

Defeats it already.

5G/LTE.

Heh, if people complain about the monthly bill of paid online and say it's a big turn off for the system, I hope you'll be able to swallow the mobile data price

Also not to mention streaming games. Imagine the inconsistent connection and input lag! In worse cases, say you want to play a game on the bus or something where you're always on the go, it'd be a nightmare.

Well, I think its obvious that there are many negatives to this.Data cap, consuption and even on the strongest of wifis and internet connections, the input lag and overall experience will be far inferior.Phone controls, enough said in that department. No local multiplayer.I could go on but you got the picture.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

not really sure how viable that is and im pretty sure Sony know so too.

dont think it would have too much of an effect.

I think a better idea would be to finally make the push for PS Now on mobile platforms.

I think luanchig a side controller peripheral for $99 that includes a year of PSNOW, and is universal with Android and iOS devices so you use a left analogue stick with a dual pad and shoulder button, and the other side is the screen.... Plug and play , and you get PS now on your phone or small tablet for $89 offering 500 plus ps3 games on the go.... I think that would really do well for sony

In the end, i think most of the home console market doesn't really care about portability, but we'll see if the Switch proves me wrong.

Imo Sony doesn't need to do anything.

i already use it to play my games when i'm at my mother in laws house. the update to allow remote play via a pc with a ps4 controller was a huge upgrade from using my vita.

not quite a full mobile option but then again neither is the switch.
