I'm not a graphics whore. I simply believe they rushed the game, especially for the Switch version.

You don't need master graphics. I simply thought they could've done a bit more with the visuals. I'll wait for the gameplay before fully judging the game. After all, one of my favorite games looks horrible  compared to this(super mario 64)

that kinda clashes with your initial statement:

The game looks terrible for Switch AND PS4...

If anything, this is a lazily made game. How could they allow such a mess to release on two consoles?

as for it's gameplay qualities, the first DQ Heroes sits at 77 metacritic, which makes it one of the best rated Musou-style titles, ahead of the much beloved Hyrule Warriors

I mean- i was wrong.

Not gonna be stubborn about it. Guess I made a comment I regret.

I always prefer gameplay over graphics. However, I still appreciate good visuals. I just don't want the switch version to be rushed

"lazy" lol

Its PS3 game first and foremost, but they added a lot to make it looks good on PS4(boost poly count, lighting, textures, more enemies, AO, 1080p/60)

The reason why switch version doesnt look as good as PS4 is because Swich is a 160GF console / PS4 1.8TF.

People wanting the Switch also need to keep in mind that the device is also going to be bottlenecked by not only half the RAM as the PS4, but it's also much slower.  I'd imagine the CPU isn't exactly up to snuff, either.  Those are things that will also hold back ports, even in docked mode.

When will ppl realize optimization is a difficult thing to do? It's the main reason why having more power is always good.

this comparison is from local multiplayer which usually takes a hit on hardware. Don't think its that big of a deal from watching the footage. Plus considering the portability factor and the fact that you're getting two games in one and this actually sounds like the definitive version.

Games are fun.

I don't know it this is a good indication of future ports. I mean, we know the Switch is weaker than the PS4, but it's still much more powerful than the Vita and its version of the game looks about the same.

Yeah, this is what I said as well. Seems like the Switch version could just be a rushed port and for all we know maybe they just ported the Vita version as it would be easier and save time.

I don't think much of the launch games or launch window games will be really telling of how Switch ports will look until later on when another big third party game comes that was developed for the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch only and not last gen consoles like Dragon Quest is for PS3 and Vita, such as maybe the next Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty, then we could compare that Switch version to the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

Yeah, pretty much this. I guess we'll find out when Assassin's Creed Egypt comes out later this year.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

4x worse performance compared to PS4 and other graphical cut backs, well who would've thought ?

Shadow map resolution being comparable to PS3 is probably due to the Switch having less than half of the geometry throughput on PS4 and no async compute to make it worse ...

The Switch can definitely handle games like KH3 even though it's chipset is known to already struggle with ports of last gen games like MGR, RE5, and know we figure out that the underclocked Tegra X1 is practically delivering PS3 quality or even sub-PS3 quality of DQ Heroes ...

Yet Digital Foundry agrees that Breath of the Wild is quite a step above what was possible to make on the PS3... And that was for their Wii U version analysis. The Switch version fares even better.

So what shall it be?

The interesting part should be the comparison to PS3. WiiU was to be at the same level as PS3 and Switch should be above that so the game should look better on Switch than on PS3. Sadly, the comparison pictures show almost nothing when comparing these two versions.
I also hope that people won't keep on trying to compare Switch games with PS4 or Xbone - it will never have a chance.

it's obviously a lazy port of the Ps3/Vita version... they did not even bother to polish it :/

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^
