Poor art assets?looks aged compared to cel shading? Whatever man.

I agree with him. XCX is a fantastic game, but those character models look aged. Cell-shading is kind of "timeless", so it didn't strike me as odd. We can make assumptions about what Monolith could have done. But what they actually did with XC2 was not bad imo. But, of course, each one of us have different opinions about that, so that's cool.

Doesn't make cel shading have better assets or be any less of an aged style. The funny thing is the opposite is actually true.

As I said, each one of us look/like things differently. I thought XCX looked dated, and I think cell-shaded characters, even if that's not original, they didn't strike me as odd. Generic? Yep. But better looking imo.

And I won't take that away from you. Like cel shaded better. I don't have a problem with cel shaded, but the game did take an obvious step back graphically (edit: from an ambition level), that can't really be argued on any other level than personal preference.

Yes, it can. It doesn't look any less ambitious, and it looks nearly identical graphically, outside of a brighter color pallet, slight cel-shading (nothing remotely close to what's in WW or BotW), and generic anime eyes.

By the way, I absolutely love the way Arms looks. :)

Isn't it kind of Overwatch-y, in a good way?

Yeah, looks identical on more powerful hardware. Couldn't have said it better myself. And even that's kind of a hard sell (draw distance anyone?)

XCX looked ugly. I never got past the first area, but it wasn't pretty... Lot's of 2D pixelated grass and plant-life and poor ground textures. Xeno 2 already looks like an improvement over that.

I never said it was a graphical leap forward. But you said it was graphically inferior, which it's not.

GFLOPS aren't a good measure and are not the only thing that matter. You will find GPUs that beat others with less GFLOPS. Not to mention you have to factor in the fact that 500 gflops would be it's maximum performance (if it were using the X1), and docked would be around half of that, so optimizing for half of that would require noticeable graphical sacrifices, as if the lowest settings docked wouldn't be low enough.

So, not the best comparison. But I do believe the Switch will use Pascal and just barely compete with XBONE docked, though many people here would call me insane for believing that.

Don't you mean undocked

Yes I do, whoops.
