I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

If Rol (as he says over and over again) doesn't care about developer support (because they all make crappy games except Nintendo), really who even care what the system sells? Does it affect your enjoyment of games *that* much?

Like I'm not understanding the motivation to be so invested in sales if that's your POV.

The system will sell enough for Nintendo to make a nice profit, what difference does it make in that scenario if its 40, 50, 60, 70 million etc. etc.

It's not like Nintendo is going to give you any of that money.

Nintendo has once again released an underpowered console. Their only hope is to reclaim the Wii casual fad or I think the console will end up performing worse than the WiiU in both software output and hardware sales. I don't think mobile handheld gaming will be enough to save Switch.

I don't see why it's so hard for people to realize that the Switch will be getting every single console and handheld game. That means it's gonna get main series Zelda, Mario, Pokémon, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, etc along with tons of Japanese third party support, the only software it will more than likely lose out on is western third party support (unless it sells like hot cakes, then it'll get either exclusive western third party to fit the hardware like the Wii did, or somewhat dumbed down triple A games).

I didn't see him state that he doesn't care about developer support. Though you don't know about the last part, they may actually be employed by Nintendo, or may have stock in the company lol, ya never know (though I doubt it).

That's the problem. I don't see Switch selling like hot cakes to the casuals. They need that western third party support desperately, and I don't see them convincing third party by selling the same exclusives over and over to the same hardcore fans that don't support third party software. They're at a stalemate but I believe they could have changed that by releasing at least decent competitive hardware.

I want to address one point really.

Do we actually know for a fact (has it been confirmed) that the Switch actually is replacing their handheld console release? Are we certain that one wont come or that the 3DS doesn't just keep getting updated hardware to the point that it's almost like a next gen handheld?

As far as we know Nintendo has confirmed that Switch is their home console.

http://www.dualshockers.com/2016/10/21/nintendo-switch-first-foremost-home-gaming-console/

This means its direct competition with PS4 and Xbox One. They haven't revealed their handheld system plans yet. I'm not expecting handheld announcements until next holiday season after they see that Switch is struggling.

I still do see the switch having a chance of an decent success:

If nintendo sells it as a iPad mini that can also play real console like games and nintendo games.
The price is compareable to and iPad/Android tablet, so as long as it can do what tablets can do (web surfing, netflix, amazon video, sky, facebook, youtube, instagram, photo editing, video editing, cloud storage like dropbox, calendar and such) I can see many people who are thinking about getting a tablet: "well, why not getting the switch, it does everything a ipad mini can do but im also able to play some mario / mario kart / zelda" and the price is the same/better.

That would be a huge selling point imo.

This.  And I say it because I belong to that group.

And I would add to that that the power of IPs like Pokemon, Zelda, Mario Kart, Marios, etc should be enough to attract a good chunk of the 3DS crowd.

In the end is too early to give a prediction, but just for the heck of it I'm gonna go ahead and say 25m as worst case scenario - 80m as best case scenario.

But I have a question for the OP:  What was your initial prediction for the Wii U when it was revealed?
