Forums - Sales Discussion - The Switch has Sold more than what the PS4 and XB1 in the past two weeks in a day(Amazon)

This console will sell out everywhere in the start, question is if they can keep pulling good numbers. Personally i think this console will be huge. But not Wii huge. Not PS4 huge neither, but it might sell in a faster pace than Xbox One (yes i am serious).

I tried to preorder ages ago. They said they would email me when preorders were available but never did. Luckily, I ordered one from GameStop so I'm good.

And good for Nintendo!

First console launch, huh?:P

Can I point out a mistake you're making in using old charts?

So if an item is no longer being sold by anybody on Amazon, the item get's retrospectively deleted form the charts. Wii U was released in Nov '12 and yet it's not in the top 100 for that month. Unless I've missed it, that model is probably no longer stocked by anybody and removed form the charts because there is no way that the Wii U didn't enter the top 100 for that month.

https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Wii-Deluxe-Set-Super-U/dp/B00G0OYHCW Thats the Wii U launch console

This is also another Wii U launch bundle https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Wii-Console-8GB-Basic-U/dp/B0050SVHZO

The Wii U isn't in the top 100 for it's launch month. Amazon do delete items that nobody stocks. I think the Wii U sold less that PS3 and 360 but sold about 500k. Either those are newer listing for the old model or there was another model that was the main selling model and is no longer sold by any sellers.

The only other thing is that some listings aren't showing up. The Wii U could be one of those. Can you see the Wii U in the top 100?

I'm pretty sure Mario Kart is releasing like 6 weeks after launch, ARMS sometime in the Spring & Splatoon 2 in the Summer.

Remaster, a punching game, and summer is 4 months after the switch launches.

Mario Kart will push consoles remaster or not simply because its mario kart.

Punching games can be fun.

Mario in April, AZrms in June, and Splatoon in Aug seems pretty good but for Sept-Nov i think they need more than Mario Odyssey to keep it selling.

The hype is real. I could pre-order the PS4 back in the days with zero problems three weeks before launch. No chance to get a Switch at launch day atm around here.

Then again, we all know Nintendo and the thing is most likely heavily understocked. =P

Its in stock from third parties and also these consoles are in stock from third parties and still show up

I think the Wii U probably didnt chart and there are no Wii U games in the top 100 so i think its safe to say that it just didn't chart.

I think the pre-order culture had not hit Nintendo fans back in 2011 to the extent that it is all pervasive now. So saying 3DS and Wii U (seriously, we are citing Wii U comparisons to talk this up when Wii U is Nintendo's biggest sales failure ever?) never achieved this sort of pre-order success on Amazon is a poor basis for judging how big of a deal this is.

Also Amazon was not a great indicator of anything back in 2010-2012. It's still not all that good for anything other than PS4 vs Xb one NPD predictions.

Still being number 1 on Amazon immediately after pre-orders go up officially is a good thing, because being much lower than number 1 in January would be a kinda bad thing.

Not surprised, it's a new console and the Zelda hype is through the roof. I think it will sell well during the launch. Like some have mentioned, the real challenge will be a months later down the road. They gotta roll with that zelda momentum.

True that. WiiU sold really well its first few weeks and then it crashed back down to Earth.

I get the sense that Nintendo is strategically positioning big releases every month or so after launch so that the momentum never dies. We'll see soon enough if it works. It already seems like Zelda is enough to get people to buy at launch, and those folks might pick up 2 or 3 more games with it.

I'm hoping Nintendo saved some bullets for E3...
