As it has been pointed out, this has never happened too Wii U and 3DS. So this is pretty big. But what matters is how they maintain that momentum throughout the year. They can't afford a dry summer and autumn and the only winter game they have is Mario. That can't happen. Nintendo needs to get their other B list titles for summer and autumn. Their Kirby, Donkey Kong, Pikmin, Kid Icarus, etc. Nintendo has the IP to drive the Switch, it'll be interesting to see if they do.

Yeah i think Spring is pretty good and Summer has splatoon. From Sept-Dec Mario isnt enough they need more games than that. Maybe Pokemon Stars?

For Nintendo's sake, I really hope this doesn't turn out like your Halo 5 prediction, or this will end up as WiiU.0.

Lmao this is my favorite comment /thread.

How do you look up Amazon's bestseller-ranking of January or February or March 2011? Can't you only look up the ranking of the end of the year?

How do you know that the 3DS wasn't #1 in January 2011 or January+February 2011 or January+February+March 2011 at Amazon?

At top of the Url i just changed the dates to past months.

Jan 2011 https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/2011-01/videogames/ref=zg_bsar_videogames_pg_3?ie=UTF8&pg=1

Feb 2011 https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/2011-02/videogames/ref=zg_bsar_videogames_pg_3?ie=UTF8&pg=1

March 2011 https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/2011-03/videogames/ref=zg_bsar_videogames_pg_3?ie=UTF8&pg=1

It was #4 and #7 in March though.

Call it a retro comment lol.

I'm very worried about the NS and it's capability to flame out ruin Nintendo, dragging down my beloved franchises with it.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is going to release in April, so Nintendo has prepared a one-two punch for the launch window.

Yes, a remaster is going to deliver a mastive boost indeed.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Not really surprised. It is a next-gen Nintendo console after all

Without trying to be a negative whore. Amazon doesn't require you to put a deposit or anything when pre-ordering and you can cancel anytime so..

But it is still good news

This never happened for the Wii U or 3DS.

Proof?

PS4 sells ~250k on a typical week.  Beating that during launch window of a new console is not exactly something to make a thread about.

My 8th gen collection

As a new console it should have done better than that.

No shit its getting publicity everywhere and its a brand new console. Accessories are still pricy as hell tho.

It will, so your sarcasm is misplaced.

It's Mario Kart, one of the most popular IPs in existence.

Not only that, it is a remaster of Mario Kart on Wii U which even some of the most dedicated Nintendo fans (and casual gamers) never played since basically nobody bought a Wii U. It is not a new game but it is a Mario Kart that missed out becuase of the console it was on so to many people, it will be a fresh experience.

I'm cautiously optimistic with the Switch at the moment, but preorder sales don't always tell a very good story about a consoles success. After all, the Wii U sold over 2 million units within its first month of availability, and then over the next 12 months barely managed to sell over 3 million more. That being said, I hope the Switch becomes a success. Competition is always a good thing, and Nintendo needs the console to succeed.

Does this no longer apply?

He was so young.

I fear for his entire family in the coming months!

With the current preorder successes of the Switch... can we put that idea to rest that 6 months aren't enough time to advertise a new console?

Can I point out a mistake you're making in using old charts?

So if an item is no longer being sold by anybody on Amazon, the item get's retrospectively deleted form the charts. Wii U was released in Nov '12 and yet it's not in the top 100 for that month. Unless I've missed it, that model is probably no longer stocked by anybody and removed form the charts because there is no way that the Wii U didn't enter the top 100 for that month.
