Forums - Nintendo Discussion - DF: Mario Odyssey , Splatoon 2 runs at 720p + Zelda analysis

Apparently they're aiming to make it 60fps docked/undocked and 1080p/720p by launch. I wouldn't be too invested in this as while Nintendo often does polish their games graphically before release they would be pulling off some damn good optimization here if they were to double the FPS.

Splatoon 2 at only 720p surprises me, thought that would be 900p or 1080p, it doesn't look much more taxing than the Wii U version.

They're probably implementing more ink effects. Which imo is great.

I can barely see any difference between 720p and 900p and even less between 30fps and 60fps.
Maybe other people can see it better than I do, but I can't understand why anyone would care when the difference is so small.

I have a hard time believing this... is very obvious.

P's and P's....is that even an issue with Nintendo games?

I mean they aren't exactly playing the realism game.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Aonuma himself said Zelda was 1080 O.o

He didn't, IGN just goofed

the visual difference between a 100% locked 30fps and 60fps isn't all that high imo, but with dips the difference becomes much bigger - slight dips from 60 are much less impactful

I watched a video which showed a racing game in 30fps and 60fps (next to eachother). I didn't see any difference. To make sure it wasn't just me, I showed it to my brother. He didn't see any difference either. Then I scrolled down to the comments, where someone said you could see the difference when you look at the trees in the background. And indeed, in 30fps, the trees moved a little slower.

(Yes, I've put my Youtube on 60fps)

Splatoon 2 really has no excuse not to be 1080p. Seems like a rushed sequel so far. I wonder where Retro's game is, they've been making a new one ever since late 2013 while Splatoon came out in May 2015 (plus had a lot of free dlc after launch).

I know every human being has a different perception over certain things but ... really ? You just need to watch a podcast in 30 fps then in 60 fps to see how smoother their movements are. It's the same thing with video game.

What is a podcast? Sorry, English is not my first language. I looked it up, but all sites say a podcast is audio (so I don't see the link with fps?)

(And yes, I do realise I sound stupid now by not seeing the difference between 30fps and 60fps and by not knowing what a podcast is.)

they say the 720p footage of mario was from the trailer and they don't really know you should add that annotation because that's the whole information.
