I'm not paying CAD 65 for 1-2 switch to find out though, I hope Zelda has some HD rumbling to showcase the tech.

Same for me in most cases.  Hell, on obnoxious games I even turn off rumble if possible.  We certainly don't need 'HD' rumble.

Whenever I read comments like this, I can't help but think back on Nintendo's old consoles and how many innovations they started that later became standard in the industry.  Innovations we didn't think we needed but now can't live without.  Don't be surprised if the next PlayStation and Xbox systems "borrow" this technology.

That's really neat stuff! From a tech perspective, I have been very impressed by this HD Rumble since the reveal and this sheds some light on the details.

 

As for how it performs as part of a gaming experience, however, we'll have to see!

I'll think it's pretty dumb when it becomes standard too.  Controllers do not have massive real estate.  Could those joy-con/pro controllers be $5-$10 cheaper without it?  

I get what you are saying, but some things are an innovation and truly add to the experience of most/all games and some things are just an added cost that will fade away or become a niche thing that barely gets used.  Rumble tech, let alone 'HD' rumble, tech is imo niche.  I highly doubt it is the 'next big thing'.  Like to the point where maybe 1%-5% of all games use rumble in a way that actually add to the gameplay rather than it being an unnecessary gimmick let alone use it at all.  I think can't even remember any games i've played that even use regular rumble.

Meh I could also just being grumpy grampa about this stuff.  Ya'll may just love this shit out of it and I never will.

Thanks for finding that.  I remember they said the rumble was enhanced/improved but I couldn't find an article since it's been 3 + years.  So I mentioned the only game that uses it... uses it well anyways.  Plus it's used in the same manner as the ice cube demo from Nintendo.

Thanks for finding that.  I remember they said the rumble was enhanced/improved but I couldn't find an article since it's been 3 + years.  So I mentioned the only game that uses it... uses it well anyways.  Plus it's used in the same manner as the ice cube demo from Nintendo.

HD rumble is not the same than Analog Rumble. HD rumble is better because is a haptic feedback system  It's an evolution on the blunt vibration of modern force-feedback engines, and it oozes potential. you're supposed to feel the game through HD Rumble. The dualshock analog rumble is not as inmersive as Nintendo Switch HD rumble. Nintendo use more this feature in more games AAA.  Looking forward to how Sony and MS use this in the future.

-The legend of zelda Breath of the wild

-1-2 Switch

-No More Heroes Switch

-Senran Kagura Switch



So, how long for Microsoft and Sony to implement HD rumble in their future controllers?

Well, Nintendo has now officially confirmed HD rumble support for Legend of Zelda so I guess his story has a lot more credibility than when I first reported it here.

I'm not too excited about the HD rumble but I'm also open to trying it out and giving it a chance. I enjoy the haptic feedback the Xbox triggers give when playing racing games. For most games though, it's turned off.

I never said what the Switch wasn't doing isn't better.  I was just pointing out it's pretty ignorant to just ignore that Sony improved the vibration in the Dualshocks, yet no one was going on and on about it like people are for Nintendo.  I've personally only used it in the room, and it did a pretty good job. From what I tried, and what people are describing about the joycon's usage of the tech, you can get a pretty good approximation on the Dualshock 4.
