Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch Pros and Cons

Pros:

Mario Odyssey is looking like great fun!

Zelda BotW might be the greatest game ever made, 'nuff said.

Splatoon 2 looks like it's as much fun as the first one!

Xenoblade 2, hyyype!

Skyrim, I've always wanted to take Skyrim with me where ever I go!

Sonic Mania, return of the blue blurr?

Portable, yes! I can play any game I want where ever I want!

Supports micro SD cards 2TB, that's probably enough storage for me.

Region Free, I know a lot of people have been dreaming about this for years!

Local co-op, THE best local co-op console ever?!

The Joy-Cons, they seem to have some pretty cool thech inside!

Cons:

Low battery life, but I guess that's expected.

No Miiverse or Streetpass, why are these features missing?!

Skyrim, we STILL don't know which version of the game we're getting! Is it the remastered, or not?!

Paid online, sucks but expected

BAD online service; renting a S/NES game for month and forced to use a secondery smart device for voice chat and inviting to game sessions is just BAD!

Weak launch lineup, yeah the first year doesn't look all that great really. Changed my mind actually. 3 potential GOTY's is pretty solid.

Pricey accessories, yup.

Weak 3rd party support shown, yeah where were all the 3rd party support?! Seems like the Wii U situation all over again.

What's your pros and cons regarding the Switch?

My only con is the price............ The games I want are there, its just the price.

Pocky Lover Boy!

The best are games and the general console concept.
The worst are the services and prices.

These best are much more influentional for me. That is exactly what a console should care the most.

I didn't expect paid online... I really didn't...

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I respect your entire opinion, but if I have to disagree with an opinion would be with this one.

weak launch day if you're not a zelda fan? yeah sure 100%

but first year? the first year has fantastic content and we don't even know the whole picture. Just with zelda, 3d mario, xenoblade2, splatoon 2, mario kart 8 deluxe the third party stuff, just that is better than wii, gamecube, n64, 3ds, ds and wii u's first year.  Again, there are more announcements to be made, you can't judge the first year because of the launch day.

That list strikes me as a bit odd.
For example Isn't sonic coming to all consoles, how is that a pro?

Also $70 for a controller is absolutely insane.

So, one strange thing? How does that make the entire list odd? :P I'm just glad to see SOME 3rd party games on the Switch, since Nintendo did a piss poor job of high lighting them.

I second that!

Completely agree. But that's about how much you pay any new controller on current systems (at least where I live).

Imo, the only controllers which still remain reasonably priced are wired 360 controllers.

You really didn't? I'm disappointed myself, but not really surprised. What surprised me was how bad that service seem to be

Yeah, problem is that the price kinda poisons everything else. I think people would forgive everything else if it was $200 or $250.

Anyway, for me:

Pros -
Region-free, bitches!
Two controllers packed in
Breath of the Wild
Super Mario
Mario Kart
Splatoon
Xenoblade 2
No More Heroes
Fire Emblem
Arms
Project Octopath
Ultra Street Fighter II
Japanese 3rd party support in general

Cons-
Everything costs so damn much!
Online paywall
1-2-Switch
No Sports game

I agree that the Switch has like 3 GOTY contenders the first year (Mario, Zelda, Xenoblade 2), but outside of Nintendo's own 1st party games they don't have much to offer. I want like 7 games the first year, so that's like one a month, but every single other game besides those just look... well, boring I guess :P Nintendo might have the quality, but they don't have the quantity; a console need to offer a wide variety of games. But then again, I remember the 8th gen being called the remastered generation when PS4 and XboxOne first were launched, and how people complained for a year or two that PS4 didn't have any games. So you might have a point there :P
