Good lord, people are going into a tantrum just because the online is now paid and the acessories are expensive.Yes those things sucks, big time, but it wont hold the console down, especially since the competition has been doing that for a decade now(cant be certain about the acessories part).

The Switch is weaker, but it will offset that by having more functionalities and be more versatile. The 300 dollars price point is good.Just because is 50 dollars more expensive than most people thought(blame the "leakers"), its not going to fail because of that.300 is still a good price. Not to mention that the holidays is 9 months away and its enough time to do a price cut or/and an attractive bundle.

The launch lineup may be smaller in quantity(at the very least there is 12 games confirmed for launch, even though a decent number of those are only confirmed for launch at Japan.we dont know about rest of the world yet), but the quality is superior.I mean, personally Zelda alone is much better than the launch games of PS4 and XOne combined, so thats says alot. And the first year is also much better in terms of quality(again, personal opinion).

So dont worry.I mean, it is very likely that Japan alone will sell more than Wii U lifetime, thanks to Zelda Mario and Splatoon 2 first year.

Wgat about the Wii U? It had lots of new features, and the hype surrounding it was insane.

There was?

Geez man. I dunno. I sure hope not. Sure Nintendo has to do something to make this more appealing over the next few years. I mean consistent price cuts alone should allow it to sell more than the Wii U.

... but I'm not convinced this is a 3DS replacement, and I'm not convinced 3DS games are coming to the Switch. There was nothing in the presentation to indicate that.

This has been common knowlwdge for years before the Switch was announced. But if you are worried Nintendo changed their mind, the new Bravely Default spiritual successor and SMT V seem to imply that third party 3DS series are slowly transitioning to the Switch. Once the userbase becomes big enough, the 3DS will probably be dropped.

Yes. There was plenty of hype on the internet about the Wii U.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Well, Nintendo's handheld and home console software teams have merged sometime ago, so I don't see why the Switch wouldn't replace the 3DS as well as the Wii U.

Because its launching at $299...

The 3DS launched at $249 almost 6 years ago, though.

Sme people think this thing will sell up to 40M???

I see it selling better than the wiiU, but only cause 13M is an easy hurdle to scale. It won't do better than 30M though....

And anyone that thinks it will, I really want to know what their reasons are... besides it just being nintendo that is.

too expensive to be a handheld or even a home console. Will have limited support as always so it won't succeeed as a home console, expensive accessories and again too expensive which means its priced itself out of the impulse buy handheld market.

Very weak software lineup for the first year, and yes.....software sells hardware. So after mario kart, splatoon, zelda new mario is released for it (which remember all did 13M worth of good for the wiiU) what next, no 3rd party games to fill in the gaps.... you just wait for the next iteration of those games again. Its like the wiiU all over again.

Maybe.

I think the 3ds will steal a lot of sales from the NS.

And was cut to $170 within 6 months because it was dying. I mean if thats the case, it shouldn't have a problem at all...

I'm expecting a slow start.

I wasnt around here nor I accompanied news as much as today, so I cant attest to that, but if you compare everything leading to the launch betwenn the Wii U and the Switch, the Switch kicks Wii U ass in almost every category.Games? The games announced so far for the Switch are probably better than what the Wii U had the first two years. The concept behind the Switch is much cooler and better than the Wii U(I think we can all agree to that). There is no confusion over the product. The marketing seems to be nailing everything.Nintendo has the mobile games to help market the system and its games.Support seems(and I stress seems) better than the Wii U and even the 3DS,and so on.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

That was on launch day. Are you telling me this console with its 3-5 games is better?

And the concept is cooler. I get Nintendo wants to do their own thing, but they're handicapping the console in terms of power, and the price is too high, plus all the other crap. I can't believe some think this'll sell 40 million...
