Forums - Sony Discussion - Has a window opened for a new Playstation handheld?

Sony is pretty dumb at the handheld department. So no. I'd rather they don't. EVER.

There is, but it's sort of always been there

I doubt there will be a new Sony handheld though

PSP didn't do too dumb.

I don't think so. If the switch is a huge success, than just maybe

Id say if that appears to be the case then sony shouldnt.

If the switch has troubled first year, thats when you go "oh hey guys we got this new product, its called a PSP2, its a dedicated handheld, as strong as the switch (portable mode only), and its price..... 149$".

But if sony had a product like that in production there would probably be rumors on the internet of it already.

So Im not sure sony is going to do so, but yeah I believe the OP is right, the price of the switch leaves them vunderable to a well made cheap dedicated handheld launch from sony.

It's possible for it to happen, but I don't see Sony doing it. They'll likely just continue to focus on consoles and VR for the time being.

Sony has put out a lot of hardware recently and putting out more hardware just draws resources away from the PS4.

The only way they can make a "handheld" is to for better or worse make something similar to Switch. The problem is Nintendo beat them to the punch.

Sony could still troll big time and release a $199 PS Streaming Android tablet that runs Tegra X1 as well and it would be a serious knock to Nintendo. Android alone would be huge since it would allow for easy emulation. I wouldn't expect it to sell great numbers, but I could definitely see it putting the squeeze on Nintendo.

Those threats will never go extinct, will they?

Hunting Season is done...

Sony left handheld gaming at doorstep of a church and left running as fast as it could. Effectively saying to Vita "I don't want you anymore and will not acknowledge you".

Hopefully they'll give it a chance again someday, but if they were NOT TO. And at least half of the studios that have developed/are still developing games for Vita switch over to Nintendo, then there wouldn't be a reason to own a Sony handheld whatsoever.

Well it's not hard to make something cheaper and more powerful.

Oh is it now? You seem well versed in that matter.
