Marvel's The Defenders Revealed in First Official Images

The superhero team-up is set to hit Netflix in the summer.

The first official images from Netflix's Marvel team-up show The Defenders have been released. The series will see Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist join forces, and these images arrives via Entertainment Weekly. Check them out below:

EW also released a promotional video for the upcoming show, which includes interviews with the cast and footage of the photoshoot. Watch it here.

The Defenders stars Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Coulter (Luke Cage), and Finn Jones (Iron Fist). They will be joined by a variety of characters from the individual Netflix shows, including Daredevil's Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Jessica Jones's Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss), and Luke Cage's Misty Knight, played by Simone Missick.

Sigourney Weaver was previous confirmed as The Defenders' main villain, while Daredevil showrunners Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie will oversee the show. Although an official premiere date is yet to be announced, EW reports that it will hit the streaming service this summer.

In terms of other Marvel Netflix shows, the first season of Iron Fist will be released on March 17, while The Punisher will debut later in 2017. The Punisher will see Jon Berthal reprise his role from the second season of Daredevil, with Woll also expected to appear. A third season of Daredevil and second for both Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are also in the works.

Around the Network

I'm excited to watch it, but will there actually be some real noticable connections between the MCU films and television series or are they just gonna continue to keep feeling like they're in seperate universes even though they're supposed to be in the same. If the netflix characters don't end up in Avengers infinity War 1 or 2 or in any MCU films ever then it feels completely pointless to have ever made any shows about them, as good as they are, since the MCU is meant to be completely connected, not divided like this.

I suspect "different feel" as if they're separate.  I personally prefer this becuase having to ride the coat tails of the Avengers gets old.  In regards to the Infinty War, having most if not all characters to make an apperance should reflect the comics.

I'm fine with them wanting to be able to stand on their own, and i'm not saying they need to keep saying Avengers jokes 5-10 times like some of the films do, but it's just gotten to a point where it feels like the TV shows and films are so diconnected.

Luke Cage was better in this regard in that out of all the Netflix shows (Outside of JJ since I never saw that one so I don't know) in that it actually referenced the films quite a bit and used them around the plot, but they just feel largely disconnected for the most part with nothing there that really makes them feel like they're in the same universe outside of a few mostly vague references here and there or quick mentions.

I just want to see the TV characters interact with the films someday, or at least the films can at least reference the tv characters one time or involve them. I'm not saying shoehorn it in, but if it makes sense in the script and is a clever reference then why not go for it.  The whole point behind the MCU is that these characters all co-exist in the same universe but the TV shows feel like they're in a seperate universe from the films sometimes.

Does Iron Fist need his shirt open in every promo shot? It's weird.

Also, seems to be missing The Defenders from the cast. *laughs in geek*

Hmm, pie.
