Forums - Nintendo Discussion - With all the information we have on the Switch, what´s your take on its market performance this year?

With what is known about the price, games, etc..how do you see the system performing between launch and the end of this year?

After tha launch euphoria is over, do you see the system with a decent performance throughout the year or fizzling out till a price drop/Mario Odyssey?

Nintendo screw it with the price imo. So I'd say about 6M this year.

I've always been comparing this to the Wii U. I jeard that the Wii U 1st year was very bad? While the Switch 1st year seems to look really good (if they dont get delayed).

After Zelda, Splatoon 2 is their next big title, then Mario Odyssey then maybe Pokemon Stars. Which are all before 2018.

A price drop is necessary if March sales goes really bad! They need more than a 3DS comeback!

Pocky Lover Boy!

I don't think the hype will go away this year so they should sell plenty.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

3DS levels of price drop is necessary for it to sell well in 2017. Launch will be carried by Nintendo fans but then sales will dry up. Price drop + Mario + Holidays will get things back on track going into 2018 though and if the software is there it should do alright all things considered.

The amazing thing about the Switch is that Nintendo should have enough games already developed or in development for it that they could have at least one big game (including ports) releasing every month for all of 2017.

For example, in any random order these games could release any month outside of confirmed dates:

March: Zelda (confirmed for launch)
April: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (confirmed for April)
May: Arms
June: Splatoon 2
July: Pikmin 4
August: Smash Bros. Switch Port
September: Super Mario RPG X Rabbids game
October: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (apparently coming out in 2017)
November: Pokemon Stars
December: Super Mario Odyssey

Also all the 3rd party games releasing or 3rd party exclusives we don't know about yet.

So the Switch should have an amazing first year with a new zelda, a new 3D mario, pokemon, and more all in it's first year.  All those games each month should keep the sales consistently good.

So I think the Switch will sell very well for 2017.

No clue, I am only interested in the Japan performance, 20 million 3Ds owners and a ton of 3DS developpers...Are they going to make games for the switch and will gamers follow?

Personally we don't know it is all guesswork but they NEED that support.

Bomba until they cut the price.

It's the only dedicated gaming portable it'll do fine.

I think it's possible. But I don't think Arms will be a huge seller. I just can't see its appeal tbh.
