They have partnered with Dena now, you dont know that, previous services were limited but they were also FREE |
That means nothing, Dena have never done an online service for a mainstream games console, it took Microsoft a long time to shape Xbox Live into what it is today, it took Sony a long time to shape PSN into what it is today (even before it was PS+) it'll be late in the switches lifetime or more likely into their next system (assuming ones made) before the services is passable let alone good.
Sony are still playing catch-up in service quality with Microsoft on account of Microsoft's easy access to cloud computing and storage, an extensive network that is unmatched on any other system, and a service Sony have spent the past two gens building an infrastructure around to keep up with, just partnering with Dena isn't going to speed that up, Nintendo have only very recently even allowed an actual online account to be made, moving forward with that and building up an infrastructure to handle a good online service is going to take them untold piles of cash and lots and lots of time.
