Forums - Gaming Discussion - 2017 PS4 VS SWITCH.

Which system will sell the most in 2017

Ps4 468 77.87%

Switch 93 15.47%

XBOX!!! 40 6.66%

Total:601

Something is for sure, Switch will smash Ps4 the next holidays, I predict a ton of saltiness from there.

Best Buy and Walmart already sold out. Some interesting games so hard to say. Sony released all the hardware last year. VR is already a fading memory. Pro exists but not much more. Switch is new. If it doesn't sell better than PS4 From March to December it will do a XBO and beat it for a few months.

PS VR IS SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE, pro is a future proof system that is going to offer near 4k experiences for the growing 4k market..... Switch has no core games at launch other than Zelda.... 1 game...... Like seriously? Plus the thing is going to compete with a $299 ps4 packed in with the best call of duty game....... And the best lineup since the ps2 era this year....

Serious question: why do you think the Switch could sell more thantthe PS4 in the holidays?

More expensive (and the PS4 will surely get a price cut before the Scorpio release), fewer games, and none of the usual big holiday games (RDR2, CoD...), without knowing Sony's holiday line up yet (maybe God Of War? Gran Turismo? Or Days gone?). Why would it sell better? Because of Mario? That's not enough at all...

It's part handheld so who knows. Id said the Switch is going to beat the PS4 in Japan.

An absolutely epic new Mario and Zelda, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart Deluxe, Skyrim, ARMS, Fifa, Just Dance, Lego City Undercover, etc all in a very appealing console that happens to be the most powerful handheld until date, that also works like a homeconsole and has some awesome technology on those Joycons that are able to make things the others cant, on  top of that it has a brilliant marketing so far, this will be a very succesful gift for holidays, young gamers and more casual audiences will love it and holidays is when they buy in mass.

100 % the PlayStation 4. Stronger hardware and many quality games for the gamer, 2017 is so huge.

Tagging this.

If serious?

you are kidding yourself if you think the Switch is going to outsell the PS4 for that length of time.

Yeah same people said that to me when I said Splatoon would sell more than 2 million before years end. Or when I said Revolution would sell over 50 million. When I said Nitro (DS) would sell better than GBA. I seem to always be kidding myself huh. Also just saying it's possible, not a definite. Same as I said in years past. When Wii U launched I thought maybe it could match Gamecube at best and I was off there.

The Wii U has/had Mario Kart, Splatoon, Mario and Zelda games. Nobody cared about it then, I don't think the broad audience will suddenly love it. Outside of the Nintendo fans, no, Zelda and Mario are not exceptional games: everybody knows the names, but the families won't run in the stores to buy the latest Zelda. Skyrim is like other games, a late port, no real interest. It won't be nearly enough to compensate the usual marketing storms used by the big hitters like CoD, Battlefield, RDR2, maybe Destiny 2, and all the other big popular games the publishers like to launch at this moment, which won't launch on the Switch.

The fact that it's also an handheld won't be that big either IMO, it's just a tablet you can plug to your TV, it shouldn't impress anyone. And it's not a great handheld because of the battery, the 3DS is still a way better deal if you want to offer an handheld to your kids (and it has tons of games).

The worst part is the price. You can buy today a PS4 with a game at 300€, or even less (and like I said, there will most likely be a price cut before the holidays). With the Switch, it's at least that (and even 330€ here, in France), without any game, without the real controller (nor the ethernet adapter). It's simply too expensive to be competitive. Less powerful, way fewer games, no user base, but more expensive just because you can play a couple of hours with it as an handheld. A lot of people won't care about that enough to erase all the previous points. Why would you spend more money to buy that instead of the sure, popular and cheaper choice, if you're not a Nintendo fan? Nintendo will need to do a price cut too if they want a chance to win the holidays. But we know how Nintendo likes to keep their launch price...

CoD is garbage,CoD is literally the most casual AAA series on the market. Sony won't release numbers for VR like Vita. No such thing as future proof. Just a buzz word. It's not 4k. The term core game is a buzz word and subjective to whoever is uing it. I own 550 games all physical. I own 30 systems. I say it has a lot of core games. See I can throw out those terms just as easily.
