well its 279.99 in UK so is that bad or good?

Pretty standard, N64 was that price over here as was the PSP premium pack, it's an ok price, not brilliant but not bad either.

To put things in perspective $300 is £250 but we have VAT added to our prices.

The PSP value pack was priced £179, not £279 :

From the sound of it, it seems like this is a really trash price. Why Nintendo...?

It's a hybrid.
Portable = 130E
Home = 200E

Still cheaper than PS3 launch price so no need to get a second job.

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

I didn't realize that the PS3 was considered the base for an acceptable price.

Because Nintendo care about you...r money!

EU's price doesn't seem as bad as the US, but it's still pretty bad.

They really overshot the pricepoint of the Switch imo.
The Sweetspot should be a tidy 249.99€ tax included. That's about what the system seems to offer in value. 300€ Tax included was the absolute roof of their pricing possibilites imo and they still overshot that.

Just the system + Zelda (wich is horrendously expensive as well btw.) will set you back 400€.

I don't get it, you earn like 3000+ euros a month in western europe, what seems to be the problem? Try eastern europe, many people earn ten times less here, Switch is their monthly pay, they can't afford to buy a game let alone a console, and you wonder why they pirate so much.

... Excuse me? I work 40 hours a week (Full time) and don't even get half of that a month, had to convert GBP to Euros, but it doesn't even hit 1500.

I don't even know if we're talking about wages before or after taxes lol

Just read a statistic on wages in Germany and the 50% of the working population gets less than (and obviously 50% more than) 2500€ before taxes. That's about 1500€ - 1600€ after taxes.

Well it's +70€ to have a game to actually play. And another 70€ to buy the pro controller and not have to break your hands. So it's 470€ actually.
