Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Extra Dock $89.99!!!!! Switch Pro controller $69.99, Joycon set $79.99. Updated 2x!

$49 for the Joy cons is cheap imo. $89 for the dock that comes with an hdmi cable and an adapter is also fair.

The only thing expensive imo is the pro controller.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Too much money.

I mean come on! $300 base price, you still have to shell out $70 for a decent controller, online is paid and lacks basic features. Nintendo's last cash grab before exiting the hardware business.

I think you may be overvaluing what HDMI cables cost these days.  both an HDMI cable and Adapter can easily be bought for 20 dollars total and then you're left with a 70 dollar piece of plastic to plug your console into.

Yes.  I think this is a likely holiday 2017 SKU.  Base switch with just the screen unit and joycons for $199.  That is, unless they intend to keep producing a separate handheld device.

The dock is just a piece of plastic. They are charging out the ass for it because they feel they can, not because it costs anywhere near that to produce. Nintendo is adopting more Apple-like pricing policies.

I think you're right about the Apple-like pricing.  That's exactly how I think of it too.  However, they're not in the same market, or the same position within the market that Apple is.  Exclusivity is part of what Apple is selling, and a big part of exclusivity is a high price.  Nintendo needs to be the opposite of exclusive if they want to succeed.  They need low prices.  Much lower than what they're charging for the Switch and its accessories.

Your attitude makes it sound like you'll never buy anything Nintendo, cheap or not.

Anyway, I don't care about the €50. I agree it's not cheap, but it's also not outlandish. at least nothing compared to the €599 PS3 launch price, which gave you a whopping 1 controller and... No games.

That doesn't quite help the case for the Switch. We don't usually expect Nintendo to do such stupid price choices for their products.

Inflation's a cunt.

Wii (£180) + extra controller (£40) + Mario Kart (£40) = £260 in 2006 = £351

WiiU (£250) + controller (£40) + MK (£50) = £340 in 2011 = £397

Switch (£280) inc 2nd controller + MK (£60) = £340

Local multiplayer has gone down in price and it's portable.

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

We don't? What about 3DS launch or the absence of Wii U price drop?

And no it doesn't help the switch case perse but I just think some people overreact a bit. If gaming is your hobby it will cost you money. And if people were not afraid to shell out the 599(corrected for inflation that is about €680 today) plus extra, why should half of that bother people that much?

If I can take games with such fidelity on the road I'll pay €50 extra for it. Now if this was a Wii type powered console which was stuck at home yeah, I'd pissed, but like this? Again, not cheap, but doable.

I find it funny how the "pro" controller is much cheaper to buy than normal controller. The only thing that is even slightly fair in price is the pro controller, and that is also at least 10 dollars too high imo

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
