Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Nintendo switch event was a trainwreck

What where your thoughts on the event?

Agreed, it was just awful 151 45.62%

It was ok, not great but ok 116 35.05%

How can you not be hyped?... 64 19.34%

Total:331

i have to agree. its just horrible. we are just a month a half away from release and the number of games is extremely low. we have no idea about a lot of features (specially online ones), and 32 GB is WAY to low.

I thought the Switch was going to be amazing, but now they have almost no games releasing, so I might never get one. It sucks as a Nintendo fan.

You mean games your interested in right?

I partially mean that.  There are only 5 launch games though, 2 of them being old ports of Just Dance and Skylanders.  I already have a Wii U for Zelda and Mario looks great, but there is not that much new content for the Switch.  I might get one eventually, but certainly not day 1 like the Wii U.

Playing Xenoblade 2 before I buy Xenoblade 3 (otherwise I couldn't wait to play 3).

Can they announce a new Fire Emblem? A remake of Genealogy or Tellius would suffice !

Come on vivster, when you're already planning to spend north of $200 on an expendable product every penny counts.

It's 50 fucking bucks for a console that will last for years! that's the price of a single game. There are people out there paying 50 bucks every year just to play online or play a shitty game. But for the core product it's suddenly too much?

That was my exact tought when i bought the WiiU and guess what?... It didnt. Instead, the high price that I paid for the PS3, was totally worth it. Dont even get me started with the PS2 long lasting value...

I think only half of it was a trainwreck. The 2nd half was much better~

This is what people rightly said after the initial reveal. If there is bad news, like the price, battery life and paid online, get that out early so people can come to terms with it, and then focus harder on the games at the show. The compliment sandwich technique.

They wasted 10 mins on bad news at their conference

I agree with that strategy, but they really underwhealmed on the game reveals.  They spent 10 minutes on 2 games that could have been on the Wii and declined to even show Mario Kart in the presentation.  I know it's a port, but it's more exciting than pretending to chomp on a sandwhich.

Id be happy if the only launch game was zelda.

But lets be honest it is far more concerning that we don't know what is coming out in the first 12 months apart from a few games.

What are you talking about we don't know what is coming out in the first 12 months.

Every single game that was shown yesterday and today is coming out seemingly in 2017 according to their website/tweets/ect. Even games like Xenoblade 2.

I pre-ordered it but I'm having some serious doubts.  The only game I want that I can't get on another system is Mario Odyssey and it won't be out til holiday 2017, at the earliest.  Zelda looks great but will be on the Wii-U.  I feel like Nintendo may be walking the same path as the Wii-U. I hope I'm wrong.

See, if that's really the case, then things are looking really good. The problem is that we're still not sure. The conference didn't answer enough of the questions consumers have about the device.

Only Nintendo would think that this is entertaining. Or a video game.
