It sold quite well but it's first years did cost Playstation more money than it ever earned back. Even the PS4 hasn't earned all that money back yet with its profit.

Unles you can calcualte BR winning worth to sony, any profit talk is foolish.

To Sony as a whole no, bit to playstation it can. Besides the PS3 was so damn expensive because of that hellish cell processor.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

They have a brand new VR studio thoug.  North West.  They are obviously (per their statement) folding those resources into that studio.

It seems like Sony isn't willing to invest the money for AAA games to be released on the PSVR.

That seals it's doom before it's even out the gate, no questions needed.

No queshdns? No facts needed. That is what should be written there.

What we re looking is not an established market and tech.

Did people think there will be a big bang, and FOomP! like the universe, and it's there? It didnt happen with calculators, it didnt happen with CD burners, it didnt happen with BR players, not with HDTVs, not with the first cell phones, iPhone, game consoles and so on and so forth.

Those 2.6 millions in 2 1/2 months forecast is ridiculous. It proves how professional those self proclaimed professionals really are. And now other "professionals" think this the number to go by and below that mark is bad. Bullshit and horseshit having children together, that is what that is.

Develop AAA games? What exactly for? What hardware should it played on? None of the main VR HMDs is meant to be sold in the pillions and pillions and pillions. The market isnt big enough, the software and hardware isnt advanced enough, relatively little awareness of the technology, and last but not list and already hinted, the "efficient" computational power needed isnt ready yet. High End PCs would ve trouble with them wished AAA VR titles. However even that little userbase aint getting their precious triple +A titles. And you want who to invest into AAA games? Sony isnt. Valve isnt. HTC nope. Microsoft... Hrhrhr. Intel? Who?

Now someone might pose the queshdshn: what this is all for then? All them crude VR HMDs out there. It is to build awareness, to dive into a blue ocean, to be the company associated with Virtual Reality (the future), helping the market to grow (including, own share) to gain experience with hardware, software, production, to gain traction, to progress, to find solutions.

That's just gibberish because it doesn't address the core issues, it just reads like a gamer's wishlist type thinking.

Company produces products to make money.

Customer buys products with money because they want the product.

Company invests more money in product to make more money if possible.

PSVR = No AAA games = No big uptake from customer.

No big uptake from customer = No AAA Games.

No AAA games = No customers.

No customers on £500+ Item = DEAD.

Repeat the above as many times as you want to come to the conclusion that = PSVR = DEAD ON ARRIVAL.

Simple.

The bolded especially is complete horseshit.

Sony is a company with shareholders. It is not a branch of an obscure evangelical sect that the bolded might wash with.

O what a suprise. The superficial view of yours got even more shallow. Interesting how you focus on PS VR only. Not VR as a whole.

A gamers wishilst type thinking? Because gamers don't wish for AAA.. wha..? Do you even think before you write? Rethorical queshadn. No answer needed. Your gibberish reads like that of a one track minded gamer who cries for his AAA fix and because he doesn't get any, he is super pouty. Frowny face.

I've explained why VR generally spoken isn't much of a deal now and how this reflects in hardware and software. The effort doesn't exceed a certain threshold, there is no point in it. Sony for one simply scavenged their arsenal and made the best of it. And you think they're taking a tremendous risk with PS VR. Hahahaha.

"Company produces products to make money."

Like the PS3 made money for Sony in the first years.

"The bolded especially is complete horseshit."

I have no doubt this is what it is in your eyes. Because you don't know jack shit. You never heard of long term strategies, something not only CEOs concoct, but also a companys shareholders take into consideration.

And what shareholders associate with VR/AR is...

http://www.businessinsider.de/virtual-and-augmented-reality-markets-will-reach-162-billion-by-2020-2016-8?r=US&IR=T

As i was saying, Sony has taken the opportunity to be one of the first to venture into this new market. Not just by having a product, but building a connection a very well known Brand. I also said, PS VR (1) won't do the trick. For various reasons. There is no doom, because there is no big success and future for it. It is just the first step. To get a foothold. Get it into your head.
