Atlus, Square Enix, Koei Tecmo, Spike Chunsoft and more share 2017 ambitions in Famitsu and Dengeki PlayStation

Both Famitsu and Dengeki PlayStation this week have features where they talk to game creators on their ambitions for 2017.

First, here are the interesting tidbits from Famitsu:

Arc System Works’ Toshimichi Mori

“Since I’ve created fighting games for so long, I want to work on a different genre next. The genres I’ve wanted to make from back in the days are academy stories, mystery (investigation stories), horror, robot stories, and my dream of a space opera. I’m thinking about making something from these.”

Idea Factory’s Norihisa Kochiwa

“I’m working on an innovative new RPG. Since I’m taking on a new challenge technically, it has a significantly different visual impression from what I’ve done so far.”

Idea Factory’s Kenta Kanno

“I’m working! Please forgive me as that’s all I am saying for now.”

Aquaplus’ Naoya Shimokawa

“I’m putting all of my effort into Dungeon Travelers 2-2: The Maiden Who Fell into Darkness and the Book of Beginnings. Additional things are also progressing, so please look forward to them.”

Atlus’ Kazuyuki Yamai

“I’m preparing for the Shin Megami Tensei 25th anniversary project. As for the new title, it will be a secret for just a little longer.”

Kadokawa Games’ Yoshimi Yasuda

“In addition to God Wars, I want to announce two titles.”

Capcom’s Minae Matsukawa

“I’m working on the development of Dragon’s Dogma Online 3.0. I’m steadily working on the development of other titles, as well.”

GungHo’s Daike Yamamoto

“I’ve started work on a new title that I wanted to make for a long time.”

Square Enix’s Ryota Aomi

“The western version of Dragon Quest Heroes II is in development. I’ll be able to say more in a little while, but a new project is in development as well.”

Square Enix’s Kadoi Nobuki

“I can’t say right now. (Laughs.) If you have this survey next year, I may be able to say something then.”

Square Enix’s Yosuke Saito

“My delusion is to put out NieR, then Dragon Quest XI, then the PlayStation 4 and Switch versions of Dragon Quest X in that order. It’s a delusion to the very end.”

Square Enix’s Takamasa Shiba

“I’m creating a new title, but I can’t say the name. Please wait a little more.”

Square Enix’s Hajime Tabata

“I’m working on updates to Final Fantasy XV. I’m also challenging a great, unannounced expansion.”

Sega Games’ Hiroyuki Sakamoto

“Please look forward to future information about Yakuza.”

Sega Games’ Toshihiro Nagoshi

“I’m often asked what will do with my next title, but I will be sure to offer something that blows away such concerns.”

D3 Publisher’s Yujiro Usuda

“We’re working on a number of titles that will get our users’ antennae hard.”

Nippon Ichi Software’s Sohei Niikawa

“A title that has been on the calendar for a long time with an undecided release date… I want to do something with that one.”

Bandai Namco’s Yuusuke Tomizawa

“Since we’re working hard on the development of a new God Eater for consoles, I want to quickly deliver a follow-up report. February 4 is the series’ seventh anniversary. Please look forward to new developments.”

Platinum Games’ Atsushi Inaba

“I’m committed to starting up new titles every day.”

Platinum Games’ Hideki Kamiya

“I am quietly moving forward.”

FuRyu’s Takuya Yamanaka

“Using the experience I gained working on Caligula, I’m moving forward on several personal projects.”

Mars’ Shoji Masuda

“I can’t be so open on details, but I have two big projects. Which one should I choose?”

Marvelous’ Yoshifumo Hashimoto

“I can’t say the name of the title yet. I’m working with certain hardware.”

Mistwalker’s Hironobu Sakaguchi

“I’m working on a new title. Please look forward to it.”

And here are the notable bits from Dengeki PlayStation:

“I want this to be a year where we expand the Valkyria IP even more. In 2017, I hope to be able to announce some new information.”

Sega Games’ Takaharu Terada

“I’m moving forward on several projects themselves, but it’s still too early for me to say anything.”

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Keiichiro Toyama

“With Gravity Rush 2 released, I will immediately begin preparations for a new title.”

Sony Interactive Entertainment WWS’ Shuhei Yoshida

“We’re working on a great number of still unannounced titles. Look forward to their announcements.”

Marvelous’ Kenichiro Takaki

“I’m making various developments focused on Senran Kagura.”

Level-5’s Akihiro Hino

“I’m working on our first virtual reality title. The title is still undecided, but I want it to something which lets you enjoy the fun of virtual reality to your heart’s content.”

Thanks, Hachima Kikou.
