Forums - Sales Discussion - PS4 PRO suffering major shortages in Asia and EU regions.

For my area of Ireland I rang in December and they still had stock. Not sure about post Christmas.

It's more likely than sony expecting a majority of Slim buyers to double dip and buy the pro later on lol.

All I am saying is that maybe with more development time, we might have gotten a better product. I'm not saying that I'm behind Sony lines, hearing conversations of them rushing launch for holiday sales. Lol that's obviously speculation. But I think it's a bit more likely that they wanted to get a 4k product out there, before microsoft, for holiday sales, a whole year before scorpio, and maybe sacrificed some important features in the process.

If any company delays release to a later date, we will always get a better product than what could have been released at an earlier date (well... With exception to Nintendo that is)

I think the important thing is that Sony made the PS4pro console they wanted to make. And with how it was designed it's obvious that they chose to focus on efficiency and not raw power.

Maybe they know something we don't.

Efficiency?  Lol PS4 is NOT efficient. But I will agree that the price  is at least efficient..... I think that offering it at that price it will do better than t he Xbox Scorpio(unless Scorpio is a full blown console) simply do to the fact that 4k on consoles is mostly a fad. It's like how cheap mobile VR is selling more than PS VR

Anecdotal evidence from NeoGAF shouldn't be a thread on VGC.

With things like the Amazon thread, we're past people accepting the plural  of anecdotes as data.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

No surprise, Sony wants to fully stock the most competive markets (US/UK),
if supply lags behind demand a bit in other markets,
they aren't worried about losing a customer to other brand.

And it's not just about direct brand conversion of US/UK customers getting Xbone S instead,
but the sooner those customer get a PS4 Pro, the sooner they are evangelizing to friends.
(who themselves are potentially in the market for either PS4/Pro or Xbone)
Even a case where friend talks how they want PS4Pro but can't get it is less convincing.

When I hear "regular people" in US talk about consoles, mostly re: their kids' gaming,
it is always "Xbox" mentioned, because that is what dominated US market last gen.
The "less informed" market is ESPECIALLY prone to that, and Sony wants to maximize gains.

Because if you didn't notice, they can hardly depend on Japan to help console sales much anymore.
Sony and Japan is very aligned to US, likewise why Sony was editing film scripts for US State Dept propaganda.

You do know that Amazon was right for over two years, right? It's only recently that something changed. I really don't understand how people can take this stance and keep a straight face. It's people saying things like this that should be considered 'out there'. Sensible people stick with reality.

Efficiency by definition is to make the most out of a limited resource.

PS4pro is designed to give 4K like quality with non 4k capable hardware. And we are not just talking software here, it's hardware is specifically designed to that end.

If that isn't efficient to you then I don't know what else is. And then there is also the price. Nothing stopped Sony from making a $500 box. Or even a $600 one. The fact they have the best selling sub $300 box out there have them that kinda leeway.

But instead they chose to come in at $400 but make a $400 box that can push a respectable pseudo 4k image. That's efficiency right there.

Do people not understand what efficient means?
It means using few resources to accomplish the goal.
Pro's Checkerboard silicon tying into object IDs is efficient.
Designing a console whose power is "good enough" is efficient.
Going above what is the minimum which accomplishes a goal is NOT efficient.

I really don't get the opposition to using anecdotal evidence from "other forums" here.
Is there anything specially better about anectodal evidence originally posted here?
If I happen to first post my anecdotal evidence at another forum, is it discounted if I later post it here?
I personally am unaware of anecdotal evidence pertaining to Taiwan and Malaysia being posted here. Ever.
So drawing that from another source seems totally valid.
And the logical follow up to that is not denying it's validity to even be considered, but posting more evidence.
And of course, ALL anecodotal evidence wherever posted does have it's limits, that was never disputed.
If you just aren't interested in discussing a topic/specific evidence, you have the freedom to NOT DISCUSS IT.
Yet for some reason there is overt hostility to other people discussing what they think is topical and relevant.
In case we didn't get the clue growing up, other people tend to have different interests than your own.
That fact does not undermine your own interests, or present any reason for hostility or opposition. Grow up.

The system overheats, crashes, and runs some games worse than the regular Playstation 4. I completely agree that for wh at it is it is efficient, which is why I said 4k is mostly just a gimmick for consoles and that the price is good. But by definition they should have done better making sure it's failure rate was closer to the original PS4(which had failures...but that's like every console ever. It wasn't nearly as bad as the Pro)
