Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch 10 Day Countdown: Day 8 Wii Favorite Games!/Memories/etc?

I used my Wii to play GameCube games more than Wii games :p

But there are still a lot of good Wii games

My favourite probably goes to Smash Bros Brawl though, was a lot of fun since I didn't play competitively

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

Around the Network

Then there was the Wii, the final push back into console gaming. Soon after I got my DSlite, I got a Wii when I was finally able to. The things were always sold out. Aside from the included, and great, Wii Sports, I got the Wii version of Twilight Princess (even though I already had the Gamecube version) and Mario Party 8. The system would be played for a long time, and only about a year-and-a-half ago did it finally get unhooked for the last time. My favorite games were;

Super Mario Galaxy
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Mario Kart Wii
Mario Party 8

First a special nod to Wii Sports, because it's genius design and motion control was a big part of my renewed faith in Nintendo. Mario Party 8 would become one of my most played games, together with Mario Kart Wii which I got soon after. One of my cousins got a renewed interest in Nintendo for a brief period of time and we'd usually play either of those games. We played them plenty, and it was almost like the old N64 days once more.

One of the other early games I got was Super Mario Galaxy. Finally the real Nintendo was back, the game was brilliant. The best I played since Super Mario 64, gameplay elements were so original, and it worked. Level design, the hub-world and even it's graphics, it couldn't have been better. A little past halfway through the system's lifetime interest started to wane a bit and quality games were fewer and further between. I rode it out until the final high-point in the form of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. A great game like almost all Zelda's are. I talked about Twilight Princess for the Gamecube already, and what I said there applies here as well, but Skyward Sword was finally the Wii's very own original Zelda game. And the final game came with the best motion control I'd ever seen. Though it goes overboard by also using it for things like swim-controls, the sword-play was totally immersive. The feature added new layers of depth in combat and puzzles and I thought this was the right way to take the series. For a long time I hoped this depth would carry over to subsequent Zelda games.

Wii blessed me with Metroid Prime Trilogy, which improved the controls of the first 2 games and made them even more enjoyable. I usually don't collect my games but I'll never get rid of the Prime Trilogy.

Other games I love:

Skyward Sword (my favorite zelda)

Resident Evil 4 (my favorite RE)

Super Smash Bros Brawl

Xenoblade Chronicles

Mario Galaxy 2

Twilight Princess

Wii Sports Resort

Xenoblade the best RPG from 7th gen and one of the best of all time.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

ah the Wii...

Xenoblade was amazing...
Mario had no gimmicks...
somehow even the Rabbids had a good game...
and I will still go back and play a custom game of Fortune Street no matter how long. (my record is 18 hours)

Twilight Princess was the first game whose level design truly blew me away, and using the wiimote for the sword and bow felt amazing at the time.

Wii Sports was a revelation. I still take it out to play every now and then.

Using the beam lasso in Metroid Prime 3 is still one of the most satisfying moments of any game I've ever played, also the amazing fps controls.

Being able to enjoy Resident Evil 4 thanks to the improved controls.

Mario Galaxy. Nuff said.

The whole Prime Trilogy repackaged with Corruption's controls. Better than the Gamecube's Zelda: Collector's edition.

Switching between swords and guns on the fly in Red Steel 2. So awesome.

The 1-2 rpg punch of Xenoblade and Last Story.

Skyward Sword is my favorite game of all time. Great 1-1 controls, great dungeons, great art, great music, and a story that actually motivated me to chase after Zelda.

Too many memories...

- Playing Wii Fit with my family was insanely fun
- Xenoblade Chronicles was a wonderful and magic journey. Very few games can make me feel what Xenoblade did in every aspect.
- After missing the GC I finally was able to get into the Prime series. And I loved it
- Playing Super Mario Galaxy with my sister in the cold winter covered with a huge blanket will always be one of my most treasured memories in gaming.
- Twilight Princess was my first 3D Zelda. And man, WHAT A ZELDA.
- Mario Kart Wii was my first online experience.

And these are only some of the greatest memories I have with this console. There are many more. People can say whatever they want about the Wii. But for me, it's the best console I've ever had.

All time favorite Wii game for me (and all time favorite game) is Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn. All it really needs is the replay ability like Awakening and Fates (scouting and etc) as well as online and it would be perfect imo.
