I dont get why anyone still wants to work in a big company and make AAA games.
Just go indie and make mobile games or smt. If sucess, profit much bigger and best of all, you have freedom to make your game as you want!

Because maybe... some people have something called standards and want to see games progress as a medium. Not regres into a simple shallow commodity and timewaster.

How about less trash and more quality? Translates to: Less games of low standards, more shelf room for games of higher quality and profit.

I don't know i'm just ... bummed. I bought my Xbox One when I had a terrible PC and it wasn't announced to be on Windows 10 when I got it. Stuff like Scalebound, Quantum Break, Fables Legends, that was the stuff I was interested in cause it was new stuff. But my Xbox One is collecting serious dust. Hopefully microsoft brings it at e3, because I think they should honestly just move to the Scorpio as a new console.

I'm right there with you. I was excited about those games too. Along with Recore--another game I was excited about despite never seeing any gameplay until it actually released. I didn't care about Quantum Break until one of my friends messaged me on Xbox One telling me how good it was. THEN, before it released, they told me it would suck and I shouldn't buy it. Oh well. They weren't bad games. It's just that we had limited info on what they actually are until launch so our imaginations filled in the blanks.

I think Scalebound was the same. In all honesty, I can't remember what the game looks like. I think it was a girl and a dragon. Yet, somehow the game was etched into my brain as something I should be excited for.

I still love my XBO, though. Heck, I already had one in 2014 and wound up buying TWO MORE before the end of 2016 (three if you count the one I bought as a gift). Different strokes, I guess.

I agree. By the time Quantum Break launched I was not playing my Xbox regularly at all so I forgot about the game, then it ended up releasing and it sucked. Same with recore. maybe the same is true for Scalebound ... but honestly if they marketed it frequently it wouldn't be a problem. I remember scalebound. I remember looking up multiple times "When is scalebound coming out" cause I wasn't keeping up with the Xbox news. I didn't do that for Recore or Quantum Break, and yet this is the one cancelled? Wow.

To be fair it's not like Scalebound looks like a full blown amazing Triple A exclusive. It's not Microsoft's Horizon Zero Dawn(at least as far as popularity, marketing, and budget goes). But I still would like the game out.

Was Scalebound a system seller?

And I still didn't know about Horizon until E3 last year. I admittedly suck, though.

As for the "Sony knows how to market their exclusives" part: Umm... Okay? I don't know how to reply to that.

How many systems have to be sold to be a system seller? That said I do think it was a system seller. Sure it isn't halo or Forza - but it was Microsofts big (and probably last) chance to get that crowd.  Not just they "hey we have kh3 and FF15 too" crowd but the actual "here is a JRPG only on this system" crowd. Xbox 360 had that crowd, xb1 does not.

I mean Xbox 360 had Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia, and Lost Odyssey. Xbox One just doesn't.

i have a feeling that MS's 2014 E3 will become infamous for its failure.

If anything it will be pointed to when people claim a "winner" of E3 how game announcements are nice, but see how they play out over following 3-4 years.

For example, I love The Last Guardian, but Shenmue III and Final Fantasy VII:R could end up not coming out until 2018/2019 and end up with serious issues (I hope not) making that Sony conference not seem quite a smind blowing as it felt at the time. We shall see.

while you do have a strong point, that line of thinking just doesnt occur at E3. announcements are going to be made and people will compare the shows. hell, even if a show has decent announcements but some crappy segements happen it will "ruin" the show. E3 is the place for exciting big announcements, and thats how people will always view it.

in reality, nobody is going to wait a year or two to talk about who won E3, they are going to do so once the confrences finish. while the results and opinions will surely change with time. the fact is that is always how its going to be.

The answer is two. Two consoles.

But it's difficult to track two consoles so I guess the answer would be: if there's a significant positive shift in sales the week a certain game releases, it can be considered a system seller.

But that's just me. I don't make the system seller rules. Unless you live under my roof. Then I make the rules. Now go to your room, young man.

Why if I put your roof under my roof?  Then you live under my roof, who lives under your roof.

Biggest roof wins, sir. I'll go mow the lawn.

Another one bites the dust...

I read all your comments in Captain Branogans voice, Lewis lol

Is it me or it looks like this microsoft e3 might be similar to e3 2014?

They probably will announce Halo 3 anniversary (Halo MCC 2014), Halo 6 (Halo 5), Forza 7( Forza Horizon 2), Ori 2 (Ori announcement). Ofcourse showing some announced titles like Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2.
They might be announcing some panic titles like they did 2014 which clearly were to early (Scalebound, Crackdown 3, Phantom Dust remake)

Only different this time is probably a lot of Scorpio news and gameplay from old and new games.

I agree.  The point is what value does "winning" E3 hold if it fails to convert to games and success?

I also think anyone should hold off buying any console for the promise of a specific title in the future.  I planned on buying a Wii U the day Zelda came out...still waiting to the point likely will never own one and get a Switch instead.
