"Microsoft's shady handling of Platinum that is responsible for this. I have that on good authority."
"the news got to me in confidence as of Thurs. what I was told made me feel sick."

Adam Bolton feels for PGs.

Pretty much what I've been saying, Microsoft being Microsoft.

So they clashed creatively. Why couldn't MS just let PG do their thing and trust their long history instead of meddling in the development process. It reminds me of the stories about what happened after they bought Rare, suits were constantly interfering with them. It's sad to see one of the best devs in the industry be treated like this.

Thank God they didn't sign Kojima.

Well Microsoft has a long history of being scheming, controlling pricks wherever they go.

Is that serious? If true they ran their own exclusive into the ground hard.

I'm sure we will hear more about the situation between MS and Platinum from Kamiya when he returns

He isn't the type of person who would be muzzled

Its a repeat of what happend to Fable.

Carbs make you fat, and butter is unhealthy.  Plus you can't get the vegans, I bet vegans love video games. You can play a character that eats meat, while not actually eating meat IRL.

I hope you understood the point that everything should lead to Xbox Live subscriptions. That's why Microsoft wants to have a strong multiplayer component in as many games as possible and why pursuing singleplayer-focused games isn't high on their list of priorities.

It sounds like "not high on their list of priorities" became "we dont do single player games anymore".

Maybe because of Quantum break? that one had to have cost them quite a bit. ReCore too.

It sucks if you enjoy playing single player games though.

Probably lot of people that would have enjoyed a proper Fable 4 instead of what they ended up trying for.

You'd think they'd be wiser here, all they needed to do was let PG do their thing while they market and hype up the game but it seems they cocked it up.

While I do think Driveclub is a good game that just had a really bad start, there's no doubt it was a commercial failure and we likely won't ever see another one.

GT Sport is on the way and will likely be really good.

I honestly think the PS4 needs a new FPS. With Guerilla working on Horizon I think Sony needs to find another team to make a AAA exclusive shooter far more than they need another racing game.

Overall I think the point JRPGfan was making was that the Xbox One has a far narrower range of exclusives than the PS4 does and it hurts MS and a big part of that is that MS isn't willing to take the same financial hits and risks like Sony did with TLG (an almost certain financial loss for Sony but a game that was well recieved and his a big hit with fans of the older ICO games).

Or Microsoft could actually do what the fans want and make a game in a genre we want instead of catering to a niche crowd. How about a western RPG like I don't know ... FABLE FUCKIN 4. The way scalebound went, it should've never even been made because with half the time and effort you spent with scalebound you could've made a legit fable game that would've sold well. Jesus, thats my biggest problem. Fable legends shouldn't been a thing. Other than that, I am into 2017 lineup for Microsoft still, just want a dang western rpg that is great from them.

Catering to a lot of niche crowds is what helps build a fanbase. It's part of the reason Sony is so strong worldwide. The person who wants Gravity Rush 2 might not be the same person who's interested in GT Sport who might not be the same person who's interested in Hellblade.

The goal isn't to make a game that everyone will like, it's to have a wide array of games so that everyone can find something that they'll like.

Though, I 100% agree that it's stupid for MS not to be making Fable 4. That's the game Lionhead wanted to make, it would have been a great way to add some variety to the lineup, and people really liked the first 3.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Don't forget all the games that would have been canceled by most other companies like Until Dawn and TLG and turned out to be great. I like their approach.

TLG was a huge fail imo. 8 years and a game with a lot of issues that probably lost Sony a lot of money.

Keep in mind that a lot of people like it. If some don't, it's all good. It's just one of the many reasons for someone to buy a ps4. Had it been cancelled, Sony would have received backlash and it would hurt their image. It was a good decision after all this time. It only helped the brand.

It absolutely did feel like Microsoft was trying to force this game into Multiplayer.
Infact it feels like Microsoft is trying to almost exclusively into Multiplayer games.

I think Sea of thieves would have been fantastic as a single player game.

This 1000 times over. The gameplay looks great, the world looks great, the graphics looks great, but I do not like multiplayer games and they have given me no option for enjoying this game without multiplayer. It would easily be a day one buy for me if I could play it alone without being confined to some rinky dink sailboat to constantly get killed by bigger ships.
